I'm thinking of selling my Mamiya 645 1000s with 80mm 1.9 and putting them money towards a Hasselblad 500CM 80mm 2.8. I find the Mamiya cumbersome. The thing is I'm never feeling the square format and I know myself as a photographer in that I know that I produce better images if I see the approximate framing when I shoot (rather than envisioning the crop.) Instead of shooting square, I'm thinking I'll get some A16 backs and hopefully I can find some A16V backs, too.
Anyone shoot Hasselblad? Is this a waste of money?
- I just went through this exact thing... ended up getting a Mamiya 6. Hasselblad isn't any less cumbersome than the Mamiya 645.inteliboy
- will report back in a few months. Though am sure I'll miss the 645 format.inteliboy
- Good advice. There are 645 rangefinders if you ever want to go back. Mamiya 7 is also incredible.nb
- The 500CM is a really fun clattermachine. Eventually I realized there was no real point for me to have medium format film in the 2010s.garbage
- It was my dream camera growing up, and then when I had one it was a a nice experience, but I had no use for it anymore.garbage
- Shit, I love medium format film. It's definitely what I shoot the most ofnb
