I've also met 3 of my 4 musical idols and biggest influences at shows, including Jeremy Enigk of Sunny Day in 1999, Doug Martsch of Built to Spill in 2000, Rob Dickinson of The Catherine Wheel twice in the last if years at his solo shows in Chicago. Really great guy and the first time he did one of those up/down looks with his eyes at me and in his great British accent goes "oh you must be in a band!" I was and I guess I looked the part.
The only musical idol I've not met is Robert Smith of The Cure. Maybe one day. Easily the biggest musical influence for me ever.

I seen/bumped into a few stars and have never asked for a photo or autograph until once I asked Wayne Coyne if he'd pose with my wife and puppy and he declined... Coincidence I've hated everything The Flaming Lips have released since.

I farted in the same elevator as Dweezil Zappa once and then got in an argument with a stranger over whether it was really Dweezil Zappa, or John Stamos.

I saw Ian McKellan in SF the other week, wearing very bright clothes.
Still took people a second to realise.

I was once in Hampstead Heath in London doing some exercises, and was doing them next to this fucking legend. Didn't say a word but smiled at him and we just had a "yeah we the only ones badass enough to be here at 6am" moment.
I see Ricky Gervais and a few other famous faces in that park, but none who I really love as much as Vas. It was all I could do to stop myself from say "you're going to have to work very hard to stay alive, my pedigree chum!"
- that's what you thought. he was thinking "stop smiling at me you faggot"sine
- HA! Likeing the way you calling him Vas :p Legend! Imagine how many times he must have to talk about sour milkJamiehutber

In Dublin, no one really gives a shit if someone famous is walking around. Happens regularly and people tend to just ignore them and they ignore everyone else, it works pretty well. But a couple of years ago Sean Penn was in town making a film, and everywhere he went he had about four minders surrounding him, really drawing attention to himself like a big fuckwit. Anyway, I was walking home from work one evening, the same public street I always walk, and guess who's walking ahead of me with his bunch of dicks minders? Yes, Sean fucking Penn. And they are walking really slow, making a point of their presence. So I try to walk ahead of them on the narrow footpath and one of the minders starts to block me saying I can't pass. I say something like 'I'm trying to catch my train, I live in this city' and continue to walk, and the little prick pushes me off the footpath! And Sean Penn goes "You shouldn't have to be told twice". Prick!
- Minders = British speak for bodyguards?omahadesigns

- And yet we're supposed to respect Mr Penn's highly-valuable and frequent political opining...detritus

Sat in an audience of アッコにおまかせ some time early 2001 or 2.
Which would not have been so special if it weren't for her seeing me in the audience and started to ask me a bunch of question, live, and me trying to answer them in my then near non-existant Japanese.
I think I said "very cold" when she asked wwhat I was doing in Japan, while I rubbed my body in some sort of motion to support my notion.
Rest of the questioning went on in that fashion.
Again, live. Some Japanese coworkers called me up after the show saying they saw me on the tv-show.
...and nothing else.

I was staying at the same hotel as Anthony Bourdain in Detroit last summer while he filmed his Parts Unknown episode there.
Sat a few seats away from him at the bar and I just ignored him. I'm a big fan, but I didn't want to bother him. People were walking in off the street to shake his hand right as he's about to eat his burger...nice. Then someone asked me to take a picture of them with Tony and I asked him if it was okay. He was chill but he's just a beer-drinking cheezburger eatin sonofabitch.- i love anthony, one person i would love to just hang out and drink with.sea_sea

I've seen a good few famous people, Amy Winehouse lived near me and I've seen Nas, Kanye etc, but one person that sticks in my head was Britney Murphy. Because I didn't expect her to be sitting having a coffee outside a small cafe in London. She looked amazing and I almost walked into a lamp-post looking back. Shame she passed a couple years later.

I took a dump beside Jarvis Cocker once. He was in the other cubicle, we weren't together.
