If you were walking down the street and notice the person coming towards you was an artist you like or a musician or actor you like, would you say hello? Would you just walk by and not say anything?
Just curious.

It depends. I ran into Quentin Tarantino outside of a bar in LA. And I went up to him, shook his hand and expressed my admiration to him. He was thankful and appreciative with me, but he was a bit upset at the 2 paparazzi that were next to me snapping photos of him and his 2 ladies.
( I had a DSLR hanging of my neck, but was too excited to remember to snap a shot, later on I heard the paparazzi talking about me and one said something like, is this guy new? he didn't even take a single photo)
- ha, he probably thought you were the nicest paparazzi everinteliboy
- right? I was like.. man I love your work, very inspiring, I just wanted to shake your hand and tell you that, that's all.Miguex

I used to live in Venice and see them all the time at Whole Foods, they're just people, leave them be, most people do, then occasionally there is the one weirdo who wants to be a fan and say something.
I'm friends with a fairly popular girl on a soap opera, I brought along a friend from KS when eating out in Venice one night and my friend could barely contain her shit and kept texting people she knew.
I ended up taking her phone away until after dinner. she understood.
- Yeah, it must be annoying to be famous and in public.bainbridge

haha i use to work at a health food store in Huntington Beach where Peter North was a regular. I worked in the Vitamins department so he used to come to me for advice on new products. Turns out his regular purchases included Chelated Zinc, assorted mineral supplements and those muscle-head drinks with the Ephedra in em'. we talked all the time, he would come in with a baseball cap on, some girls took photos with him but I never mentioned his work. it was an unspoken respect.
true story.

i run into musicians and actors a lot but never say anything unless i actually have something to say to them, which is rare. if i want to become friends with them i'd much prefer it to start on a professional, collaborative level than from a fanboy level. unless we're just standing around with drinks or something in which case i might strike up a conversation

probably not, and i've seen quite a few celebrities out and about in Cape Town. i think that's part of the reason they come here. people don't bother them.
i've gone past Nicole Kidman on an escalator; saw Ralph Fiennes ambling around (looking very drunk or fucked). my dad and his wife had dinner in town a few years back and Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael "Cunnilingus" Douglas was sitting at the next table.
- we don't really have a paparazzi or big "celebrity" culturesine

I haven't said Hi to any people yet. Not so much because I didn't want to do it, but because I am pretty sure they are sick of people approaching them for a handshake or autograph.
So far I have ran into Billy Corgan walking with Matt Chamberlain, Elvis Costello, Alec Baldwin, Travis Barker, Ben Gillies, Bill Hader, Dallas Green, and a few others but thought I'd leave them alone.
I did kinda feel like insulting Mark Wahlberg because he was very arrogant and walking like he was the greatest thing that's happen to earth.

i've not had this happen much, but i guess, i'd treat them the way i'd hope to be treated were i in their shoes.

I was standing behind Taratino once at the KFC on Sunset. They would accept his debit card because he was using it as a credit card (or vice versa ...can't remember) He had no cash and looked really hung over. I offered to pay for his dinner. He thanked me. His wallet was the Bad Mutherfucker wallet. true story.
