most ios 6 apps feel very dated after only a day of ios 7. just change the icons so everyone can move on.
also, a feature no one is talking about. swipe down on any of the icon pages and get the search box — no more going all the way to the far left to search: http://d.pr/i/JNld

The design of iOS 7: simply confusing

the "designers" who are posting the hate haven't even used it yet. they are all apple provided screenshots.
- Considering that Apple is "revolutionary" and "Mavericks" shame on them!utopian
- Mavericks is a location, not a reference to its meaning.monospaced
- Yes maverick is a California locationnumero1

Most people complaining about the icons are only going to ruin any design aesthetic there might be by putting a picture of their gurning offspring as a background image anyway.

Pros:
- Auto-update of apps
- True Multi-tasking
- AirDrop
- Better photos organization
- iCloud KeychainCons:
- Horrible icons
- Inconsistant UI
- Battery life (at the moment not better, worse)
- Siri (still worthless)
- iTunes Radio
- Control Center- you don't use siri?scarabin
- It annoys me that Siri has to go to space and back for resultsCrack_Junkie
- Google has figured out speech - Apple is way behind on this, IMOCrack_Junkie
- i don't want to talk to my phone.doesnotexist
- You must have some real one-sided phone calls then.ETM
- Siri works about 1 out of 20 times I try...all basic things...mostly worthlessformed
- especially with anything dealing with flights.lvl_13
- You're absolutely right about Siri vs google voice. Siri is so slow compared, even apple fan boy kevin rose says so.Hombre_Lobo
- auto update of apps is a big BIG con, not a pro.Miguex
- Never used siriset
- I don't see any use for Siri, other than helping the disabled operate the phone.raf
- I've actually never seen anyone use Siri or the Google thing in the real world.raf
- i use siri every day. mostly for reminders and map directions. also use her for moviesscarabin

I'm on the fence personally. While I've really clung to my iPhone all these years coming from the old crackberry crowd, I've recently just been 'looking' for a reason to switch to a more 'open' phone. I don't know that this necessarily has given me the push, but deep down I'm hoping the overall experience is as bad as the UI.

I'm kind of surprised that a company as profitable as Apple could take such a massive design trend and try to sell the design off as something revolutionary. Some of the points mentioned before of sacrificing usability in the email screen for a consistent flat look is really not like them.
It's not the end of the world, just not like them to not have at least improved the trend they've adopted in any meaningful manner.

Probably timeline. But these...

Icon hate aside, the UI looks pretty nice overall...

I don't get it. Flat design and fancy transitions don't even scrape the surface. Is that it? If so, Jony Ives should stick to hardware.

So I installed the beta on my 4S tonight and have been poking around a bit, and overall I think the design is definitely cohesive, and many aspects of it have a simple elegance that I really like (others may not). Clearly it is still a beta, and I expect with another 3 months of polish, it will be in a much better state.
Definitely some of the icons should be scrapped, and there are some minor layout issues. I find it definitely looks and feels better in your hand at a casual distance on a retina display than a static screenshot.
New camera app I like, calculator is great looking, photos has some nice improvements but is slow (may just be the initial load of the library though). Definitely some contrast issues, and I am curious to see how well the design system holds up in other languages.
Still a work in progress, but I am curious to see the next Beta and howi it progresses.
