Belize. Spent the first half of the trip on the Ambergris (sp) keys and it was great. Spent the second half in Belize City and that was a lot different. We did go to some Mayan ruins which were sick though.

Spent a bit over 2 weeks driving through the south of Spain: Seville, Cordoba, Granada, & Tortosa, ending in Barcelona. Fantastic trip!

we went to Kauai. A few days we stayed at the Hyatt Grand and pampered ourselves. It's awesome but very touristy and crowded.
The next few days we stayed at Waimea Plantation Cottages. This was a completely different experience. Way more laid back chilled experience.
Both were excellent but you'll need a car to explore if you stay at the cottages, the beach isn't that great there.- plus easy to get to when you're on the west coast.fooler

Got married last summer, ended up doing a 3000 mile roadtrip over four weeks throughout CA, OR, WA and NV in my jeep on all backroads (I live in Seattle). We took two kayaks and camping gear, and had no agenda. We just wandered around, talking to locals and getting off the map at every opportunity. Paddled almost every day, camped on some cool beaches, mountain tops and snagged nice little rooms when we found them. Met tons of amazing people, who each recommended where we should go next (and how best to avoid the tourist traps).

we went to thailand and found it to be a good mix of city (bangkok and chiang mai), mountains (chang dao), and beach (ko tao) with a variety of accommodation options - we stayed in range of places from decent hostels to remote bungalows, to boutique resort. with a little research and an appreciation of thai cooking and massage, it can be a great place. a good mix of adventure and relaxation.
