wow....
my worry is that they'll get accepted to SOME college and she'll be overjoyed, there are SOME colleges that seem to accept almost anyone, and of course they'll be surrounded by people like.. uh...

1) Do they have good shit?
2) If "yes," how do I get in touch with them?

LOL, this has become quite a great thread. The sad thing about this situation is that the sons have no father in their lives; the mother and husband divorced long ago and the father has nothing to do with them. The mother has spent the better part of their teenage years chasing men around the suburbs trying to live some sophisticated life, and was unemployed for at least 1 1/2 years until recently. She works in HR or something like that. She's loaded but the money is for her kids college as part of the divorce.
But she's been paying so little attention to these kids over the years that it's no surprise they treat her the way they do. She got the older son a job at the new company she works at now, he's working in a produce warehouse or something, and is surrounded by ex-cons, gangbangers, etc. so there's no doubt he's going to get into some more trouble being around people like that.

It's fucking weed, not "drugs". You know you live in a fucked up society when this question is even raised. It sounds like this lad has the entreprenural spirit which should be embraced, if not just pointed in a slightly different direction.

... Any thoughts?
Yeah, mind your own freakin' business!

WTF are you guys talking about? In every single state in the Union, she is 100% liable for his actions that take place under HER ROOF.

"No dad around then?
My dad would kick my fucking head in if i was doing that."Exactly what I thought too.
When I was growing up and when I got into trouble, it was actually my mum that I feared most. Kids have it easy these days as they KNOW that their parents can't knock the shit out of them.
When I was young I never got the shit kicked out of me by my parents but I did get a healthy leathering once or twice. That is enough to put the fear of death into any kid for any misbehaving in the future.
Is there no grandparents or uncles or older cousins that can knock them into shape?
They sound like a couple of young f*ckers that are in need of a back-of-the-hand from someone. Something to knock some sense into them.
At the moment they are absolutely fearless .... and that's the problem!

I don't think beating the kids is the solution...they will probably just go smoke weed afterward

Blast from last year... big update on this ongoing saga I originally posted about. Just heard all this on the phone from my mom:
Her friend - a single/divorced mom in her late 50s with the 18 year old and 21 year old son living at home - woke up at 4:30 am last Saturday to people pounding on the door. There were 30 - 40 DEA agents and police surrounding their house, guns aimed at the house at all doors and windows. They had drug dogs too. One of the sons went downstairs and opened the door; the agents and cops burst in there, had the two sons on the ground, then her daughter (a totally normal young teenager) woke up, barely dressed, the mom came downstairs naked in a robe. Cops make them sit on the couch, and search the entire house with dogs.
They found 84 grams of pot total, some in one son's room (only one son is selling it now - the younger son - and the older son wised up and stopped all that) and some in the mom's closet, where the son had hidden it before. She'd known that he had done that before but wasn't aware he was doing it now.
They all got taken to the police station and from what it sounds like it was quite an ordeal. The mom wasn't arrested, but she was handcuffed, and had to pay $1,000 bail to get out. How do you have to pay bail if you're not arrested? She wasn't even read miranda rights.
The son that got busted only had to pay $500 to get out - his friends covered it. They all had full body searches, she was stripped down to bra and underwear and searched by a cop. They even f'ing checked when she went #2 to see if she had tried to get rid of hidden drugs or anything. She doesn't even do drugs, it's just her idiot sons.
So, she's the homeowner, and in the past knew this was going on. They're meeting with a lawyer next weekend, but I'm totally curious what's going to happen. She wasn't in possession, nor selling it, nor totally aware it was in the house at the time, but she knew the son had pot and smelled it in the house. I wonder what she's liable for? Accessory to the sale of drugs? Any ideas?
In Illinois, 30 - 500 g (first offense) is a felony with 1 - 3 years possible jail time and a $25,000 fine. They found 84 grams total.
Oh, and this all got tipped off by the parents of the son's friend, who found their son with pot and made him tell the cops where he got it.
That show of force - 30 - 40 cops and DEA agents, drug dogs, raiding the house at 4:30 am, that's a real fucking show of force! Is that normal for amounts that low, or could they have been expecting to find a lot more? She asked him if he had any more hidden in the house - he said no but who could believe him? It's hard to really know. She said there were cop car lights all over their street. She thought the sons were both straightening up and doing better, but, uh, no...- way easier to do drug busts all day long than fight real crime like murders, rapes and abuse.robotron3k

Over 3 fucking ounces?
Lame.

First, I won't suggest you're misinformed. Recognizing how the classic game of "Telephone" can distort details, I'm still struck by that show of force.
I've heard of some folks in my extended circle getting spooked by knowledge of busts...But, this sounds quite surprising giving all of your inside background.
- the story was told to me by my mom. She's a straight shooter.mg33

The mother is an idiot...deserves everything that comes her way IMHO. I know some of the crowd in here will say...it's only weed...who gives a fuck. But I've seen 3 relatives smoke themselves into oblivion and are now so mentally ill, they're unable to lead any type of constructive life.

What a crap parent not teaching her kids about drugs before it was too late.
Drugs in America are dangerous; there are thousands of dedicated, unthinking, violent, persistent, angry people in a massive International gang that will come and take everything you've got, kick the living shit out of you, then lock you up with no protection with murderers, rapist and perverts until they kill you or knock the teeth out of your head so you can such their cocks all day, then let you out with a permanent mark that forever consigns you to the back of the line, the worst jobs, the shittiest houses.
I sure don't know any drug that's worth risking that. Weed would be the most ridiculously unimportant, trivial, pointless reason to get skull fucked 10 times a day tied on your back to a steel bedframe while the guards walk by and collect their silence money.
Sorry to be explicit and hard-assed about it, but that's the reality. While you're reading this some skinny little midwest kid who got unlucky one night out on Highway K with 2 shitty ounces of shitty stick weed it having his ass turned inside out by a parade of massive angry men some of whom like to knock him out while they ride what's left of his bony little body. You fucked up, son, you don't need anyone to tell you that do you. For some fucking bits of dried plant that you burn and breathe in. Brilliant. Swallow that shit. Yeh, you really stuck it to the man, didn't you ?
