A lot of people are whining that Nokia did not go the Android way. I like that they are pushing WP7.
- why do you like it?eficks
- Because there are already too many dif Android versions and handset variations of themernexbcn

As a Nokia employee, it should make the future very interesting. No doubt the Windows 7 platform is great, but only used by a handful of people, but fused with Nokia hardware of which has always been the best, we should finally beable to get the market share back!
Just wished it could of happened sooner!
- This isn't going to end well, I think your fucked!spot13
- Yeap! but lets see what the Nokia Top Daddys come up with!CodenameAM

Stephen Elop's ex Windows employee, so I guess he knows the inside out of Windows company and how powerful they are for the future.

Nokia really didn't have a choice, they had to do that because of the systematic decline in the market share. This is also good for WP7. I haven't seen many devices with that OS in Europe.

As someone else said. This is the equivalent of AOL partnering with yahoo, who cares?

Have to say, I'm a little mystified how little attention WP7 has gotten...having played with it, the UI is pretty slick, design is great...way better experience than Android.
- at first play it felt like a more unique experience, but didn't seem as extensible/adaptable to a variety of apps as other OSscenek

Nokia + Microsoft = Desperate
- Boz0
yep.. two has beens trying to catch up to the future but make same mistakes over and over again..
Nokia picking WP7 over Android is such an idiotic thing it's not even funny.. from a business perspective and what they are trying to achieve.. I guess it has more with the fact that MS paid them 100s of millions of $ for the partnership plus the CEO of Nokia is a Microsoft guy..LOL..

WP7 is actually really nice. The UI is nice, the live tiles are pretty cool with some customization. But being the third man in (4th if counting Blackberry), even with solid Nokia hardware, it will be hard to gain mind share. That said, competition is always good, so hopefully even in third place, they can weigh-in and nip at the heels of Apple and Android a bit.
- yeh i was surprised how nice wp7 was, i was skeptical, but really liked it. id be happy to own one tbh.Hombre_Lobo

I think it's a good thing. More choice = better.
The more people with better mobile phones makes it better for ALL of us creating shit people can consume on these devices.

Competition is a good thing.
I think this could be great. Clearly desperate, but that doesn't mean something great won't come of it.
WP7's worst enemy is the timing and lack of phones (or knowledge of them, I still haven't seen it).
Android - haven't been greatly impressed with it yet, but I am sure it will mature
Future - 3 platforms with huge backings is going to be great for the consumer.

formed, I agree...timing and lack of knowledge. Curious to me that MS didn't do a marketing campaign blitz with the WP7 phone. Maybe they don't want to fo all out given availability of apps?
- They do have most core apps though. But people are taken in by high numbers, even if 90% is garbage.ETM

LOL.. They kicked out President of Nokia in US and placed another Microsoft guy to run it..
can you say Microsoft take over?
- lukus_W20
A lot of people are walking out of Nokia in protest ..

- Because they are going to lose a ton of jobs. I doubt people care why or howformed

i had a go on a wp7, and i really enjoyed it. Like the zune interface, it was smooth and clean. very snappy. i wouldnt mind owning one at all.
As with most mobile platforms, if they get enough interested and development it will be a cracker.

How MS handles app development and distribution is important. Android is a mess. Apple's tight control at least helps to organizes the chaos of 10s and 100s of thousands of apps out there. With the Xbox Live integration and the Xbox Arcade games availability, gaming should be pretty solid on the platform in a little time.
