i don't know that these matter so much - i mean, if it fits you, and is big enough, it's good enough, right?

- I r disappoint at the Mona Lisa.mikotondria3
- where can i get that shirt?scarabin

- that's more like for camping/ outdoors, might be a bit too extreme for daily use, unless he is homelessMiguex
- if he is homeless, these can be great, you can store food, clothes, utensils, liquor, newspaper, sleeping bag,Miguex
- some extra shoes, you could rip those cords and use them as a belt, or to tie your belonging to a shopping cartMiguex

i changed my mind - i guess there is stuff that matters!
1. a pack with hip straps - proper hip straps that go over your hips, not just thin strips of polyester belting - will take the weight off of your shoulders nicely. even for low weights, over time this matters.
2. a pack with horizontal compression straps will help cinch all the stuff in your pack closer to your back. this helps your mobility, moving your center of gravity closer to your body. you will be able to turn more easily this way.
3. avoid packs that stick way the fuck out. like this one is dumb for hiking:
because it makes you twice as big, depthwise. a tall backpack is better than a big protrudey backpack for reason #2.- this one isnt designed for hiking its for urban city, not wilderness.typical
- yeah - i was using it as a counterexamplebigtrick
- you should counter with a pack designed for outdoors and describe why it sucks.typical
- comparing it to something that its not intended for with out the features you are talking to..typical
- is a poor comparison.typical
- haha wat. i am comparing backpacks to backpacks. this is a fair example.bigtrick
- for 2 different usages and 2 different consumers.typical
- yes. and so? good god epill.bigtrick
- this pack isnt a day pack, its internal features are for business/ office/ laptop..typical
- the golite pack below you posted is a fair example towards that comparison.typical
- not one whose features dont offer the daypack's usage. im just saying.. its not the same.typical
- i'm going to eat your soul.bigtrick
- Hmm, you misspelled 'penis'ian
- "i'm going to penis your soul?" but i don't want to penis epill's soul.bigtrick
- ;)typical

grafiske - it would be good to know what you mean by daypack. How much shit are you planning to put into the bag? You going 2 miles or 15 miles in a day?

steepandcheap.com Lots of mountain hardwear gear, not the best IMO but worth a look. never been dissapointed by anything from here tho kelty.com
- bjladams0
^kelty has great stuff. I've got some kelty gear that i've used for 12+ years, taken it all over the world and it holds up.

bare in mind that hip straps on rucksacks less than 35 liters are generally useless.
The hip straps are designed to sit on your hips (2 third of the padding on the hip strap below, 1 third above the hip bone), and on these small sacks with hip straps they often sit way above your hips, meaning that it just wraps around your belly, constricts your breathing and is very uncomfortable.
There are exceptions to this, you can get long low capacity rucksacks that sit correctly, but be sure to try them on properly.

- note the compression straps like bigtrick very rightly mentioned. They are very useful when your pack isnt fullHombre_Lobo
- also, like my post above mentions, i removed the hip strap from this pack, it sits too high, despite being a long packHombre_Lobo

Also when you test it, put weight in it. Any reputable outdoor retailer will have test weights to put in rucksacks.
You'll probably find that while light rucksacks are nice, when weight is added they are generally less comfortable. A heavier day pack would ideally have a more rigid back system (which makes it heavier), making it more comfortable.
- also - you can bring some gallon jugs of water to use as test weights (: i have actually done this beforebigtrick
- ha! you're hardcore dude. Great idea. Its worth when your walking for hours in comfort!Hombre_Lobo
- if by 'hardcore' you mean 'big nerd' (:bigtrick

Here is the thing - I have an Osprey:
http://www.backcountry.com/ospre…
I want one that is really small, I don't want any frame or serious hip straps because I like to empty it and stuff it inside of the Osprey.
My previous daypack is gonerz.
