- Would this actually work? I wonder if the steering needs to be locked tooGnash
- ^ I would think it would. It would also need some bracing at the bottomlemmy_k
- bars on the right are fixed in place behind the head tube, bars on the left are linked to the forks. nicekingsteven

I'm not too keen on fat bikes either, but I do like the idea of an electric bike for the work commute in the winter. I though those treks were kind of expensive (most ebikes really) so I got one of these instead:

There's about 4in of snow coming down today so I'll know how well it handles pretty soon.
- that being said the wife's been rocking one of these all summer and it's been great cuz she can actually keep up LOLzarkonite

- Total build comes in at 20lbs 1oz—not bad for an AL/CF gravel frameset!skwiotsmith
- Or 9.1kg if you prefer...regardless, this thing is quick.skwiotsmith
- Coool!! Which tires?OBBTKN
- Rene Herse Barlow Pass Extralight 700x38s. Was looking for Gravelking Slicks in 38s, but couldn't find em. Glad I ended up with the Herses tho!skwiotsmith
- Looks really fastSimonFFM
- @SimonFFM This thing rips on gravel. But for city riding, its def a quick & cushy ride with those Rene Herse tires...can't wait to get it back from the shop!skwiotsmith

Updates to the Foundry Harrow: still running SRAM Force 1, but have since upgraded to Zipp Ergo 70 handlebars (carbon fiber) & Zipp seatpost (also carbon), and swapped out the wheels for the last-gen Zipp 303 Firecrests (running x32c Continental GP5000 TL) and shxt does this thing fly. And the sound those wheels make...swoon...

Thinking about getting a new bike. I saw this one:
But then again, I question, is this a bike for me?
I cycle to the market and around the town, cruise around. Would like mudguards, so I can cycle to the gym even in light rain without getting dirty. Light is handy, too.
I am more of a minimalist guy. Would a fixie be better for me? Single speed, light-weight. But what about the mudguards.
It's so hard to decide that I might just stick to my old bike. Damn.
- You can put mudguards on any bike. For the market and gym you can get a rack with panniers. For minimal maintenance get an internal hub.palimpsest
- depends, if you want to have a commuter bike but sometimes pedal outside the city and with some friends I wouldn't buy a fixed gear.oey_oey
- Get the most dorky looking bicycle. So it's not attractive to thieves.shapesalad
- disc brakes are really nice but do you need them? the big question would be if you need gears. like a hub gear system like nexus can be practical.oey_oey
- Single speed = big no.shapesalad
- https://www.halfords…shapesalad
- It has 8 gears. It's this one: https://www.schindel…SimonFFM
- The halfords looks good. I am location in Germany though.SimonFFM
- It's not really my type but I have to say that it has good parts and seems like a good practical city bike.oey_oey
- Price went up 150 EUR from yesterday to today. Suckers. Makes me less wanting one.SimonFFM
- keep us posted on the mudguards situation!Krassy
- I still ride fixed gear, I have a chill ratio as I rarely go over 20kms in and around city. Super smooth, front brake only to help with stop and start traffic.slappy
