opinions are not accepted here. only absolute truth, which you will likely not possess. good luck!

keep in mind netbooks, no matter what the brand, are more portable computers than their already portable computers...
desktop? can't take that thing on a plane or trip... i need something smaller like the size of a book... enter notebooks/laptops... Hey i can take my work with me now cool i'll do shit... later that decade... you know what I never really do any work when i'm out and about all i do is check email and facebook this laptop is too heavy/cumbersome... i need something light and near useless that connects to the web... enter netbooks... well i might be seen by some chick i think is judging me so it will need an apple on it so i look good checking my email and facebook in front of the barista... enter macbook air

As it urns out, this thing is flying:

^ LOL.. tech crunch revewing a laptop.. ROFL..
And yeah.. mac world is totally unbiased and will diss on it for sure hahah..
They are using tests that are heavily stressing flash memory then taking the overall numbers to prove some points..
SlashGear reviewed it.. here's what they said:
"We ran Geekbench on our test unit, an entry-level 11.6-inch Air with the 1.4GHz processor and 2GB of memory, and it scored 2261. That’s actually a couple hundred points less than the previous-gen 1.86GHz Air we reviewed in 2008, though it’s worth noting that model was selling for a huge $2,499 compared to the $999 of today’s version."
I'd hardly call it "flying"...
- but again.. don't want to sound negative.. it's still super sexy. I'd get it if it was $200-$300 cheaper.Boz
- like 4gb ram, 128gb of flash storage at least for like $1000-$1100.. I'd get it right away.. but $1400 is quite a bit for 11.6"Boz
- You must be a joy to work with.Andrew_D
- what does that have to do with anything? but yeah, people do like to work with me a lot because I"m realistic and not belonging to cults..Boz
- not belonging to cults.. ;)Boz
- the whole "cult" and "steve worshipper" garbage is really stale.iCanHasQBN
- seriously boz, you have a very odd mentality toward this apple thing.iCanHasQBN
- it's cult by any definition. It's insane what people are willing to justify because it's Apple.. it's scary.Boz

Wow, this looks like fun. Quick, someone find a lukewarm review of the aire and lets see Boz spin like a top again.

i don't like the wedge shape as i prefer rectangles over triangles in design, but i do plan on getting one next year for travel. set up a windows partition with bootcamp, and i'll be good to go.

I'd love the 11" for commuting by bike and around the house/office. This wouldn't be a primary computer in all practicality... Though using it to teach classes might actually work after seeing it can power a 26" display. Love that.

no backlit keyboard? no UMTS? useless for me ...

I would buy it if I could use it as my main computer, hooked up to a large LCD. I am sure the 2.16 one is faster than my old 2.4 mb pro I have been happily using. The only thing it lacks for me is firewire for fast external drive access and ethernet for fast network disk access, so it's not for me.
It's a nice computer though, not at all underpowered anymore. It's fast enough for most portable computer users. Apple goes by Pareto rule: satisfy 80%, forget the remaining 20%.

I would only buy it if it came with no less than 5 cpu and software stickers beneath the keyboard.

- cool yes. but it doesn't really have anything in it.iCanHasQBN
- Obviously you haven't checked out the benchmarks...raf
