Bad idea in Singapore. Unlawful discharge of firearms or even attempting just to shoot without firing a bullet may and probably will result in the death penalty. Same for carrying a gun in a security area.

To those who believe that guns are the last resort against an emerging tyrannical/dictatorial government (I often hear this as "reason" to own a gun)... Do you not think that this (theoretical) imperious administration could completely wipe you out if they really wanted to? With all the military technology they have, you're little handguns, rifles, and even machine guns don't stand a chance in hell against what your government possesses. Sure, it was completely justified and reasonable to own guns back in the 1800's when they were the best weapon around and you could actually form militias to combat government forces. But in today's military age, they are completely worthless... (EXCEPT to murder rival gang members, your cheating whore wife, the Pakistani fellow running the mini-mart, innocent animals, your classmates, and the jerk in the '94 Corolla that just cut you off).
So really, why have them? Please enlighten me, as I'm honestly trying to find reasons for your rationale. Do you need protection against a burglar that might possibly come into your house at night? How likely is that going to happen, really? Would the burglar himself have a gun if they were completely banned? Probably not. Though if he did, and he saw you pointing a gun back at him, wouldn't that actually make him MORE inclined to shoot your 'i'm-gonna-be-a-hero'-ASS?
It seems to me, that the overly-paranoid, insecure people who own guns are all juveniles deep down and they still wanna play cowboys & indians... except the bullets are real and people's lives are at stake.
