No one asked me, but I'm going to go ahead and answer freddds question.
I think he does very nice work, but it's hard for me to consider it design, (I see it more as art) because at least what I saw on his site, looks all very similar, he has too strong of a voice of his own, competing with the message's voice.
Now, I'm not saying that is a bad thing, because there a few designers that can get a way with that, and they make way more bank than I will ever make. I'm just pointing out the fact that my first impression of his work, looks like it was all developed for the same client.

On David Carson:
I wouldn't say his work is on my list of favorites, but I love his ideals, his background, what he stands for and I think it's probably my favorite speaker in the design world. I've never seen him in person, but I saw tons of footage of him speaking at conferences and he is one of those speakers that get you inspired you know?- Ed Fella is the reason tools like David Carson were able to become famous graphic designersfresnobob

No particular order:
Stefan Sagmeister, Paul Rand, Saul Bass, Chermayeff & Geismar, Jessica Helfand, William Drenttel, Dana Arnett, Doyald Young, Milton Glaser, Rob Giampietro, Mark Farrow, Prem Krishnamurthy, Adam Michaels, Michael Beirut, Mike Abbink, Ken Leung, Paula Scher, Michael Vanderbyl ...
All the above, because they do intelligent, enduring work that is not slavish to a particular, easily-defined style.
Add Edward Tufte and Nicholas Felton, because the world of information graphics would be much poorer without them.

When it comes to editorial, Alexey Brodovitch and Cipe Pineles... And perhaps not my favorite, but the first time I personally saw contemporary "graphic design" in a museum was Julian Opie back in 2002. So I'd say, that was cool because it opened up the possibilities in my own mind.
