after being abused yet again by my manic bitch of a boss i'm on the verge of quitting. my creative soul is slowly but surely being destroyed and a general hate of not only work but life in general is engulfing my sphere. my entire being is screaming that quitting is the best move that i could make, but a tiny little voice keeps reasoning that its stupid to quit when i don't have another job lined up... any thoughts or advice?

Tell you boss to shape-up or you're out of there. It might work, and if not it get's you to the same destination.

also: pics or it didn't happen.

i think you already know the answer...
if work is making your life shit even when you are not at work, then it's time to reevaluate.

where do you work?
i'm thinking of quiting and i work for myself. badly.
- I wouldn't blame you. Your boss is a dick! :DETM
- ... and the douche that works for you is always on QBN wasting time.ETM
- both correct. the work is shit also but that matches the pay so it's all one great story of sadness.airey

I hear you. I've been there.
Try and rise above it and keep doing what you do. Maybe give understanding your bosses perspective a shot, or simply move on. Life is too short to be doing something that's as bleak as you're making it sound.
Do what's right for you and your health. If your heart is saying "I'm over it" and you'd truly be a happier person for it, then I think you've already answered your own question.

Really, it's not impossible to get the portfolio together, send out resumes, hit up your contacts and get a new job.

Start to look for other work and laugh at your boss cause she is paying you to find another role.

All in all, despite your emotions, think it through and don't burn bridges in this industry. Leave on a respectable note with proper notice.

don't be afraid of change. ironically the only way out of your situation is through change. good luck, i know taking the first step is the hardest, but it's important to think of yourself first. ;)

already tried talking to them... 'yes, just let us know what you need, we really want you to stay on board' was their response... the problem is that they never keep their promises, they set goals which are virtually unattainable, and if by chance you do manage to meet the goal they revoke whatever shit bonus they promised. On top of that I get called passive aggressive because my boss constantly has the desire to speak over me.

You'll feel much better just by getting your folio out there. Any time she starts to rant you can just think to yourself 'if only you knew, bitch. if only you knew.'
Positive Action always creates a better outlook on life.
Having said that, I've been taking some action myself this week and I'm feeling much better for it. :)

What type of creative are you doing?
- Amicus0
You probably don't feel like posting work on here because of the hypercritical bitchfest that will turn into, but maybe some constructive criticism from a select few could help tweak your folio into a pay boosting, respect earning book.
Choose wisely!

I should add that I meant emailing a select few from here, rather than opening up a crit my folio thread that is bound to be flamed.
