boring track - sounds like the backing music to a car commercial.
video uses shock tactics to make it go 'viral'. music is in a sad state.

Being a ginge, I don't have a problem with it
Think it's executed pretty poorly, but the metaphor/message is nice.
Agreed with someones comment above that it's an average song that's trying to amplify itself by doing something shocking and viral. The really stupid thing, is that I can't see it getting any airplay, but maybe thats not where people watch music videos anymore. You Tube have pulled it so maybe its an own goal?
Wondered if they would of got away with it if they used Jews or Aboriginals. Guess Gingers are the only safe way of doing something like that without massively offending people.
She's gone down in my estimation, being a Sri Lankan Tamil, she should know better...
"Ultimately,“Born Free” sells a shock factor rather than critical thinking. We ask questions about the images, not their meaning; we’re to be surprised that the visual exists at all, rather than be explained why. So, while the imagery in both is interesting and catches our attention, it’s almost entirely self-serving, and in the end, we don’t actually learn anything from it."

At the start, I thought they were rounding up fatties. That would have been good.

some of you are thinking about it too hard.it's a music video.
it's funny as fuck with a little bit of disturbing.
it engages you differently - as opposed to ass and tittes or fawning shots of the musician.
reminds me of why the Windowlicker video was good.

It seems that people are so incredibly keen to be viewed as cynical. It's such a shit modern phenomenon, because most of the time it's about posture rather taking an interesting alternative point of view. You want to be _seen_ as cynical, because you want to appear intelligent / knowing / wise / 'seen it all before'.
God help anyone who wants to add any content to their music video or try to add any kind of vague narrative relating to something political - you'll be instantly derided, because we've like - totally seen it yesterday.. heard it all before. We've been thinking the exact same thing since 1994 (we've just choosen to ignore it).

Lukus, I love pop videos as a medium for a message. I loved everything like Smack my bitch up and the rest of it. Just think that her message has been usurped by the gingercide thing. No one is talking about her message but the just the way it looks.
From her own Twitter: FUCK UMG WHO WONT SHOW IT ON YOUTUBE! FOR THE U.S
Her message wont end up getting out, and thats the fuck up.

I'm slightly startled by the "but gingers aren't a race" line I've see a lot in the various commentaries to this video.
That's entirely the point. It's why it comes best from someone with Tamil origins. It's exactly why it should spur dialogue.
All media has self-purpose as its intent, at least this example's intent is broad, none too po-faced and laser-guided at its demographic.

i hated it.

So this video is all about Gingers are you fucking kidding me, I just thought there where red heads in the vid for a visual element to the music video, I thought there idea would have had a bigger picture.
Bloody hell, hahahaha.

best music vid i've seen in a while. i can't remember the last artist who could entertain me for 9 minutes with a song/video
- poupee0

"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by XL Recordings"
Apparently it's not going THAT viral, LOL
