get one with one fixed gear and one of those gimpy little hats and some really tight jeans.
Oh yeah, gotta get the Brooks saddle, also. The nice leather one.

find a used or last year's bike. will cost you half of new most of the time. bikes lose their value faster than cars.

Cannondale CAAD9 looks like the nicest. might be the priciest also.

I haven an '08 Specialized Roubaix Comp Triple that I bought new in April for about 1700. It retailed in '08 for 2400. It's race endurance and it seems you're looking for something slightly sportier, but I do about 40 miles a day (commuting) and average about 23 mph, sprint to 30+ on flats no problem. Definitely get something with at least 105 components if not Ultegra, at least if you plan on going with Shimano.

Cannondale it is. Any more other brands/suggestions feel free. Thanks ya'll.

if you're going to use it as a commuter, that CAAD9 might not be the best choice. A cyclo-cross or touring bike would be a bit more comfortable geometry wise and last longer than the paper-thin CAAD9.
If you don't know your size well, buy a bike at a local bike shop that will fit you to frame/stem/seatpost. The savings of a used bike might not feel so great if it's the wrong size.
- Yeah commuter primarily with a fun, comfy ride and easy on hills. So not to CAAD9?hellogoodbye

Are you kidding me? CAAD9 for sure. It's well above and beyond the other two. Those other two are VERY beginner bikes, whereas the Cannondale you can actually race. They're not even in the same price range. Are you picking a bike by color?????
- good that youre getting a bike though. +1000iCanHasQBN
- hahaha no not by color but best bikes in its range.hellogoodbye

race bikes are great for racing. Not so much everyday riding. The geometry is designed to get you aero and efficient. The frames are designed as light as possible,Those two factors make them less comfortable and durable than a CX or touring bike, which are designed for rougher use and longer days in the saddle.
From what I've seen 'commuter' designated bikes are mostly shit.
stick with cyclocross, touring or even an xc mountainbike with skinny tires.

These dudes are right. Don't buy the Caad9 for commuting. It'll get dinged up quickly if you lock it and it'll be more appealing to thieves.
If you really want a road bike to commute on try and pick up an older road bike used. Something with thicker tubes and a not-so-blingy groupset.

I'm pleased with my Gary Fisher Marlin.

CAAD9 is the best frame out of the above if you want to go fast.

I ride the Allez, it's nice though I don't have a lot to compare it to. I think you've gotta go with the one that fits best.

Out of the box, Giant are the best spec'd bike for the $$$.
Out of the 3, i'd go for the CAAD9.
