I'm game for a tasty drink up. If someone wants to pick a date and make it happen I will drop it into the old iCal.
Meeklo - Blindlady Ale House has really good beers and the pizza is good.
It looks like a good handful of us live within a few minutes of each other. Nice to digitally hangout with ya'll.
- That's why I said we should do it at blind lady! lets!Meeklo

Have you guys been to Pappalecco?

But I am in the process of looking for a new place as well. Will probably end up in North Park or University Heights.

I live up in Sierra Mesa. I-15 and Aero ( near the Stadium / Frys), I dig it. New house, nice neighborhood and pretty decent $'s. Plus it is central to everything 10 mins to downtown, 15 to the beaches.

I agree South Park and North PARK are good spots for working downtown Little Italy is super close, as is Bankers Hill and Golden Hills ( which CAN be cool but it can be sketchy too.) Personally I would stay away from living in the beach communities...you can always get to the beach in 10-15 minutes form wherever and you don't have to pay those prices! Linda Vista/USD is super central too...just DO NOT live in Mission Valley...you will hate that decision within 3 months.

If you work downtown the best ocean community to live in is OB. Takes 10 min to get downtown easy.
Also you should remember that commuting north from south is alot easier than commuting south from north.

You've been offered pretty good advice so far. Regardless of neighborhood, a few qualities I have learned to value in a San Diego domicile are:
- lots of windows to make use of the ample natural light.
- good airflow to enjoy the ocean/bay breeze. sounds corny, but it's worth opening a few east/west windows and taking note.
- an outdoor space. patio, deck, lawn, balcony, whatever. And for what it's worth, if i worked downtown I would probably move back to Little Italy or try the North/South Park area.

Meeklo - what about doing a meetup at Toronado? There's a bit more space there eh? Unless Blind Lady has an area in the back, I can never get good seating there. Hamilton's is just too crowded unless it's a Sunday night.
Thoughts?

Wow I knew there were a couple SD locals on here, but I didn't realize there were so many of us.
Meeklo - thank you for your suggestion of Cream cafe a while back. Been there a couple of times to do some work and it's awesome.
- Yeah that place is cool huh?
I met tons of local designers there too, including the owner!Meeklo

If I worked downtown, I would move to North Park area.

I live right by this place:
I heard some negative comments about it here,
I wanted to respectfully disagree, the breakfast joint that was there before had terrible service, and was a bit high priced in relation to quality. On the other hand, this new place rocks, the pizza is great and the beer selection is great, staff is very friendly and the owner is a fellow graphic designer.
Not trying to start anything, just saying...
also it looks like there is a bunch of us in the area, I think we should make a QBN SD at blind lady once and for all...Just throwing it out there! ;)

listen... PB is pretty heavy on the bro-hams, and even prompted my friends and I to start a non-profit organization called No Bros (http://www.nobros.org/) which never really got off the ground but that's a different story.
But my point is that it's not all that bad. There are stereotypes for every area in SD (and I've lived in many of them) but where ever you live is ultimately what you make of it. You can avoid the bros in PB if you want, and having the beach and the bay right there is pretty awesome.
That being said, I've come to really like University Heights. The urban places in SD feel almost like a different city than the beach communities.

I don't pay rent but I have to move from house to house all the time....stupid traps.
