Beach life: Ocean beach, Pacific beach, Mission beach, Encinitas
City life: North park, Hillcrest, Kensington
Money no issue life: Del mar, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Downtown

New job I take it?
- hellrod0
If you're gay you'll like Hillcrest.
If you are a stoner surfer you might like OB.
If you are a Mexican... well Tijuana is only 20 miles away. Unless you left Mexico to live here.
If you are a dolphin... the ocean is right here.
If you are rich and like cougars you will enjoy La Jolla or the Wild Animal Park depending on the type of cougar you like.
North Park is a good place for arty types like myself. But it's getting gentrified and all the trappings that come along with that.
If you want to cook meth I would suggest the east county.Where do you want to live?

- i went there once a couple months ago. Tasty beers and good pie. kinda hip i guess.capn_ron
- you should just go to Toronado in North Park, 3 dollar everything on Mondaysjoshboston

What kind of person are you? I have tons of ideas, but it kind of depends on what you're looking to do.

mission/pacific beach are totally rowdy and crazy. 24/7 party beerpong at 2 in the afternoon on a monday type of place. The bars are full of drunk assholes & homeless people scour the neighborhoods for whatever they can get their hands on.I lived there for a month and left because it was so bad.
Ocean beach/point loma are nice areas. Nice neighborhood feel and is reasonably quiet. (sep for the airplanes) As a general rule, you wanna be east of sunset cliffs blvd and south of newport. Head up the hill to find more expensive housing.
La Jolla/Del Mar are totally affordable just gotta drive arround and see what you want/where you want to be. Of course closer to the beach is more expensive, but if you go back into the smaller parts of the town you can find a nice little pad that wont break the bank.
Downtown is cool, but its on the edge of the really sketchy parts of town and theres a lot of spillover. That said, I go there whenever I am looking for a good bite to eat, or want to go to a jazz club or something. Good music, and food, housing is nice, but if you want to be near the beach, its not the place for you.
Encinitas is where its at in my opinion. everyone is really friendly, the town is full of nice little restaurants, vegitarian/vegan places, yoga, surfing nice breeze in the afternoon. However if you work to downtown your commute will be HELL.
Mission Hills is near balboa park, and is sort of the hidden la jolla. Nice houses, nice neighborhood, expensive to live there, but its one of the nicer places to live.
Little Italy is just north of downtown, a lot of (if not all) design firms located here. Its sort of the arts district I guess. I just found a sweet little architectual salvage yard there the other day. ITS PROJECT TIME!!!!
Thats all I got to day

If you got a new job, where is that located, it will help to point you into locations that may be close and fun.

this is a classic studderine move. Ask a question, then check back 7 hours later.
- he's waiting for the responses to build up then read them all. or he just left to move here.capn_ron

There sure are a lot of San Diegans on here. Some motivated San Diegan ought to plan a QBN meet-up. It might be fun to get together sometime for beers in real life. ;)
- i'm kinda scared. you guys are mean when you crit stuff and I don't want to be critted in person.capn_ron
- yes, critted.capn_ron
- your moms got an ass that doesnt critCountryman
- hahahahaha, that was a good one. made me laugh.capn_ron
- morilla0
I tried once, but it never happened.
- MondoMorphic0
Well I'm always up for a beer. We should set something up...it'd be nice to meet all you good San Diegans. But yeah, like Capn_Ron said, not critting. :)

haha, sorry guys! point5 is right, this is a classic studderine move. i don't want to live around the broseph types very much and i hear north and south park are pretty cool to live in. ill be working downtown. my price range is 700-1000/month. its been hard to find a place with a washer/dryer in-unit though.
- I looked at a TON of nice little studios all over the place.
Try spots in bankers hillCountryman - move to south park/golden hill - it's a nice bike ride into downtownjoshboston

i've been looking primarily in south park, north park and golden hills. for whatever reason, the places in golden hills seem to be a little cheaper and they are a lot closer to downtown.
- Golden Hills is nice, I used to live there, is cheap and quiet. The local joint there is Turf Supper ClubMeeklo

I don't pay rent but I have to move from house to house all the time....stupid traps.
- nocomply0
listen... PB is pretty heavy on the bro-hams, and even prompted my friends and I to start a non-profit organization called No Bros (http://www.nobros.org/) which never really got off the ground but that's a different story.
But my point is that it's not all that bad. There are stereotypes for every area in SD (and I've lived in many of them) but where ever you live is ultimately what you make of it. You can avoid the bros in PB if you want, and having the beach and the bay right there is pretty awesome.
That being said, I've come to really like University Heights. The urban places in SD feel almost like a different city than the beach communities.
