Haha. The walt one is amazing. I mean, seriously. OH GOD ALL THREE OF THE BLACK PEOPLE MUST BE THE SAME PERSON, BECAUSE THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE BLACK PERSON ON ANY GIVEN POPULAR SHOW.

OK! OK! Finally watched it late on DVR. I think I know what's going on. Remember the beginning? Where the 2 guys are on the beach? One guy is Jacob and we don't know the other. He says he wants to kill Ben but can't. He has to find a "loophole" to kill him.
Fast forward. This guy has been there on the island the entire time posing as the people that have died on the island – Dr. Shepherd, Claire, Ben's daughter and Locke! He must have the ability to shape-shift or take over the dead's body. Since Ben has never seen Jacob, "He" knew he could take over as Locke and convince Ben to do what he wanted. At the end of the episode, you see the real Locke is still dead, having been in the create. So someone else is the Locke in the statue. Jacob acknowledged and looked at the alternate Locke and says, you finally found a loophole. Richard's "rules" for having only one leader visit Jacob was broken..
Jacob did appear throughout the main characters lives, touching or giving them each something. This was the ticket to get to the island. They are all there for a reason.
Harlequino sounds right about all the egyptian stuff...
No idea what happens next. I love this show.

A theme of the show is whether or not things can be changed. Maybe these 2 guys have been doing this time loop over and over and the question is, can jacob change things and influence people's lives enough that it can be different this time around? The other guy who ends up posing as Locke wants destiny to be destiny (as does the actual Locke), but Jacob wants to prove to that guy that free will can actually change outcomes, hence him telling people while he's gently influencing their lives "you have a choice" etc. It ties in with all the quantum physics, electromagnetism stuff as well because a central thing in the science of all of that is whether the observer affects the experiment, and whether the idea of a "planned" universe or free will can be comprimised by chaos theory and whatnot. The show at this point adresses a time paradox in a way that says, if you could change the past, why would you do it? What's wrong with the way things are?
By the way, and I keep saying this - if they detonated the bomb to make it so none of it ever happened, they will never come back to detonate the bomb so none of it ever happened. This is an actual paradox that I hope will be addressed next season. Otherwise I will be angry and yell at my TV.
One thing I hate about this show - and there are many things I hate, even though I love it - is when some character is reading a book and the camera's all zoomed in on the title. Oh are we name-dropping Flannery O'Connor? Could it be more obvious that that's an influence? Stop pretending this is a smart show. As long as I can get past the retarded dialogue and annoying writing crutches (someone's about to say something revealing or important? Oh what's this? An entirely unplanned interruption!! Get your gun!) I will be a fan because I'm a sucker for cool ideas, mystery, surprises, sci fi etc. Oh and because Kate's hot.
- better wording - if they detonate the bomb they will never have needed to.nadnerb
- Yeah, I was thinking the whole thing is the loop ... "It always ends the same" ... and the hole in the loop is the different outcome.turnerworks
- outcome.turnerworks
- So yeah... their destiny was to finally cause change, but it's weird cuz Jacob actually seems to want it to happen.turnerworks

Totally feels to me like these two guys are playing an endless game, in a time loop, based on whether Jacob can change the future and the outcome by messing with these people's lives a little bit as they grow up. There's more to it than that, but it seems like a part of it. So who's the other guy?
I find this show being alternately totally retarded to the point of almost being unwatchable, to being really cool and engaging. It always wins me over somehow.

Bolivian TV channel PAT broadcasted extraordinary images of the last moments of Air France flight 447, lost over the Atlantic on 1 June:
According to the report, the snaps were retrieved from a recovered Casio Z750, which was subsequently traced via the serial number to its owner - "Paulo G. Muller, an actor from a well-known children's theatre on the outskirts of Porto Alegre".
In fact, the camera can be traced to ABC Studios and sharp-eyed readers will notice that the photographs feature well-known actress Evangeline Lilly, aka Kate Austen from TV series Lost.
PAT has fallen hook, line and sinker for a hoax email, and to add to its embarrassment, has failed to appreciate that while the flight 447 disaster occurred at night, the images represent the daytime fictional break-up of Oceanic Flight 815
PAT television aired one still showing panicked passengers using oxygen masks, and another showing someone being sucked out of the back of the aircraft as the tail broke away.
The Bolivian newsreader claimed the exclusive images were photos "taken by one of the passengers on the airliner" and had been recovered from the memory of a digital camera.
On discovering the photos had been emailed by a prankster, the TV station was forced to issue a public apology for the blunder.
The news director for PAT television station, Eddy Luis Franco, said: "On Thursday, two photographs were aired on our prime time news report and on Friday we apologised."
