My iPod is set to "rock" in the EQ, this is the best choice I think. No EQ is not good, the bass is all hiding. And Iam using a pair of Sennheiser headphones that worth about 120$.

Few things I didn't see anyone mention-
1) In terms of just sound quality, it depends quite a bit on the quality of the vinyl. Most of the industry moved to a thinner, more flexible (but worse sounding) format in the 70s to save money. But many releases where there is a collectors market are still pressed on high quality, which has better sound and is more durable.
2) Sound quality degrades with each listen. It may be "charming" to get those pops and clicks, but if I told you your MP3 sounded slightly shittier everytime you listened to it, you'd probably view that as a bad thing:)
3) Amazingly, there is still a lot of music that is only released on vinyl, or that is released on vinyl exclusively before CD/ MP3. So if you are into certain kinds of music you may need a turntable to hear the newest stuff:)

My dream is to have a hi-fi listening room. But I need a truck load of money and a house to achieve that... :-/

real audiophiles clamp the tone-arm between their teeth and pick up the vibrations directly through their jaw bone. the lack of amplification or electrical distortion yields an incredibly warm sound...

By the way I forgot to mention this earlier, but yesterday was Record Store Day. Scored a bunch of new vinyl and heard some good performances down at my local vinyl digging spot. Some of the special releases for the event this year were amazing.

If you are just using your turntable to play records at home then ANY turntable with good enough sound quality n needle will do you.
As long as it's spinning at the correct speeds that is.I started out DJing on Belt Driven Soundlabs and that's what I learned to scratch on too. I think it's the best way to learn cos you get used to having to take into account the pickup and the crapness of the decks.
These kids that go out and get DD 1210's at their first turntables are just spoiled brats! ;)
The bad thing about getting a set of 1210's is that you really are spoiled, they work too well. This means that when you go to a Pub/Club to DJ you'll be complaining at the crapness or lack of TLC the decks have had and you'll struggle with them.
If, in the past, youve been used to crap soundlabs then you are like "this is crap ... but its still better than the soundlabs" lol.I was in heats for a Vestax DJ Comp a few years ago, the decks they had were the top of their range but were absolute bullsh*t. They just wouldnt accept my 7's , kept jumping like crazy and stoppign and starting was very jumpy, scratching was a complete writeoff. Maybe it didnt helf that i'd had a load of vodka beforehand though eh?
Horses for courses though Benfal99
If you are happy with that $20 deck and it suits your purposes then keep it n love it. Dont let anyone tell you 1210's are the ONLY way to go.
