If you are just using your turntable to play records at home then ANY turntable with good enough sound quality n needle will do you.
As long as it's spinning at the correct speeds that is.

I started out DJing on Belt Driven Soundlabs and that's what I learned to scratch on too. I think it's the best way to learn cos you get used to having to take into account the pickup and the crapness of the decks.

These kids that go out and get DD 1210's at their first turntables are just spoiled brats! ;)

The bad thing about getting a set of 1210's is that you really are spoiled, they work too well. This means that when you go to a Pub/Club to DJ you'll be complaining at the crapness or lack of TLC the decks have had and you'll struggle with them.
If, in the past, youve been used to crap soundlabs then you are like "this is crap ... but its still better than the soundlabs" lol.

I was in heats for a Vestax DJ Comp a few years ago, the decks they had were the top of their range but were absolute bullsh*t. They just wouldnt accept my 7's , kept jumping like crazy and stoppign and starting was very jumpy, scratching was a complete writeoff. Maybe it didnt helf that i'd had a load of vodka beforehand though eh?

    Horses for courses though Benfal99
If you are happy with that $20 deck and it suits your purposes then keep it n love it. Dont let anyone tell you 1210's are the ONLY way to go.
