A Tick movie would be much better!
- I love the Tick but I don't see that translating to a 2 hour movie.
Live action series didn't go so well either.harlequino - the cartoon still rocks thoughversion3

um.. the Tick movie came out in 2001...

They are pushing this movie so hard in the states.. its insane.
The amount of advert money had to be way more than the one spent on the actual movie.I think the last super hero movie I liked was the first batman, I saw most the other ones that came after that, spider man 1 was pretty good too, but back then there were so few superhero/ comic based movies that had a bigger appeal (to me at least) now there is 4 comic based movies a year, and they all look the same.
Amazing explosions, 3d animation and a plot that goooess.. noooooooowheeere..
Props to watchman for not including shia ledouche. though..
- Come on now though, they aren't going to deviate from the book plot. It's not the usual hero chases villain story.brains
- this really isnt a super hero movie...blog
- there is a much broader and larger scope of the story than just people in tights...blog
- I'm sure the movie is going to have really good special effects :)Meeklo
- expect a drama before the special effects or action...the pace of this movie will be its own.blog

"Overall, movie was boring with no point. But I have to recommend it due to the sheer lack of Shia LeDouche."

I just finished reading the book, then watching the motion comic. I realize that it will have a lot of dialogue, but that's the point. It's heroes on a human level, dealing with issues far beyond one-liners and explosions. I for one, am really excited about some depth being put into an adaptation.
- For a group of creatives, QBN seems to be extremely narrow minded.brains
- yayblog
- or thirsty for something more creative..Meeklo
- I realize that another comic adaptation isn't exactly "creative" in its concept, but it's the choice of the material that is.brains
- is.brains
- It's the anti-superhero movie. The story is complex, and tackles subject matter left for human dramas.brains
- its all good man, its pointless to argue about a movie none of us haven't seen, don't you think?Meeklo
- here, this one is on me
http://nuke1.net/upl…Meeklo - I suppose, but I've read the book, and understand that if the movie is exactly that, it'll be good.brains
- Mmmmm, I could deal with a few of those.brains
- awe...you made a new buddy!!!

i hated 300 - i think i'd probably hate this too
- 300 was a shitfest of lovely bodies and art. No story at all.juhls
- lol. yeah, the battle at thermopylae has no story. which is why historians NEVER write about it.sputnik2
- ... says the guy 2,500 years later who has heard of Thermopylae.homeostatic
- Wait, were you being sarcastic? Actually they butcher the history and have to put stupid monsters (for the 15 year olds, I guess).

this movie was missserable. garbage at best.
at least i got a refund of my ticket after leaving 2 hours into the movie and not having to sit through the final 45 minutes.
- i haven't ever tried to get a refund.. must have been bad. was the ticket attendant sympathetic?********

not looking forward to this, I just know it'll be shit, just like 99% of comic book films are. The stories just don't translate a lot of times into anything you could make a even slightly less than ridiculous film out of, so they change this and that due to the dire lack of genuine talent they involve in them, the changes fuck up whatever hope the source material had of turning into something new and good and suitable for the screen.
- exception (arguably): Nolan & Batman.kelpie
- i totally agree kelpie except for you note, the dark night was just as bad as spiderman3..blog
- they made things up that never existed in the books, changed origins and character plots. -1blog
- Aye, but to be fair - the comics themselves were shite.Nairn
- *wonders if epill just assploded*Nairn
- no..hahaha im not a dc fan so i care very little for watchmen...
:Pblog - this is almost exactly the book. he barely changed a thing.

Sounds like it's one for fans of the novels themselves...

the changing things is my point as a non comic buff though epill. Movies aren't comics and the format, stories, characters, logic of the worlds etc doesn't work on screen imo, so they have to change it - take something of its essence and make something new out of it. Problem is that they don't get writers good enough to do it, so you end up with an awful half way house of everything that's terrible about both mediums. Again, very much my personal opinion.
I have a long held ambition to translate Rogue Trooper from 2000ad into a film, and have thought about it / planned it to some degree of detail. The strips themselves would be daft as a film though and very shallow, but some of the underpinning themes, and the character would make a great film. It'd take a really good writing job though, and would need to be a completely new thing for the screen. Same thing happens with novels when adapted, only with novels things generally need removed and complexity reduced, whereas with comics the medium deals in too broad strokes and complexity needs to be added, imo
- Rogue Trooper, ABC Warriors and much of the 2000AD multiverse'd make for fantastic conversions.Nairn
- What was that hover-surfer storyline? That's modern sci-fi - good human stories in a fantastical setting.Nairn
- Chopper. Yeah, so many of those were great.kelpie

- again i agree with you. my medium of choice is the books, the movies are just added hype..blog
- *fails to resist urge to flick through ebay for old 2000ADs*Nairn
- yeah I had hundreds, would love to be able to trawl through them now, especially the Bisley stuffkelpie

also, I don't think you can expect a film to be a collection of predefined checkboxes to please an idea of historical accuracy toward the characters and legacy of the source material. A film needs to work on its own, and a writer/director has every right to use the source in any way he can to make it work as his work. I think that's why the Dark Knight was so popular with ALL types of film goers, because he didn't pander to the legacy of the books and took what he needed to of their essence to make a film that worked. Putting it into the 'real world' made it necessary to use the source differently
- I couldn't watch that film more than once or twice. It's a bit boring after the first time :/juhls
- ok i see your point. i agree.blog
- Or maybe mentally exhausting and bleak is a better way of putting it.juhls
- yeh i agree with jal too, only seen it once at the theater, prolly not going to see it again... maybe.blog
- me too, totally, if they'd trimmed an hour maybe...kelpie
- Too many chases. The idea in Dark Knight was genius...homeostatic
- When is it ok to play dirty? It might has well been about CIA rendition.homeostatic
