give him a chance if he really seems like a great guy. maybe the jew comment was not antisemitism but just innocent dumbness or bad education on that part.
- prob bad education dumbnessredant
- either way, enough to not see him ever again.monospaced

honestly, if you're having doubts this early in you should just move on.
i mean, religious beliefs aside, the guy was nice enough to drop $100 on your ass upon first meeting you. that's pretty nice regardless of where it came from. seems like he's got a good heart.
but if you're beliefs are in different places and you're so tied up about it already you should just quit while you're ahead and let him move on to buy sad gifts for someone who will appreciate them and not ask an online forum for designers what they think about it.
asking people you barely know for advice like this is like winning the special Olympics. retarded.
jesus...
- c'mon it's fun and funny!redant
- $100 gift doesn't mean jack shit. Being nice on a first date is the easiest way to seem good at heart.monospaced

Don't get into a relationship with anyone who is firmly orthodox about any faith that differs from yours. Common faith is the best thing for a relationship, and uncommon faith is one of the worst.
Your future children will thank you for their lack of religious confusion.
- nice.metal_leg_will
- that way, it's much easier to brainwash your children into only ONE religion.********
- thanksredant
- yes, abandon your faithhallelujah
- yeh come on - it's 2008.

- tolerance and an open mind trumps this. but yeah if you dont have that then forget it. go with your religion********

^ That's not a plug for Christianity by the way. The scenario holds for any religious affiliation.

that Dillards card was probably the dowry.

Do the Jews own Jewish pickles?

Choosing a religion (or none) is difficult enough without one's parents offering up conflicting explanations for this life and the next. I don't recommend brainwashing of any sort.
- just out of curiosity, what will happen if your kid spurns your faith?hallelujah

BTW I strayed very far for about 10 years from the faith I was raised with, but looking back it provided such a firm foundation for me, especially as I consider my parents' relationship and how it affected my attitude towards commitment. After 35 years of marriage they are as happy together as they've ever been. I can't imagine how tough it would be for me to have a positive attitude about marriage if things had been different. It's understandable why so many people who were raised in broken homes take such a dim view of marriage.
My point above is that getting into a serious relationship with someone when both parties can't agree on deeply important matters such as faith is a trainwreck waiting to happen. It's a recipe for heartache. I've seen it many times.

Dunno, there was this story not too long ago about a Muslim guy's Muslim friend who killed his GF. Just because she was Catholic.
