BTW I strayed very far for about 10 years from the faith I was raised with, but looking back it provided such a firm foundation for me, especially as I consider my parents' relationship and how it affected my attitude towards commitment. After 35 years of marriage they are as happy together as they've ever been. I can't imagine how tough it would be for me to have a positive attitude about marriage if things had been different. It's understandable why so many people who were raised in broken homes take such a dim view of marriage.
My point above is that getting into a serious relationship with someone when both parties can't agree on deeply important matters such as faith is a trainwreck waiting to happen. It's a recipe for heartache. I've seen it many times.
