Political donations by News Corp., its employees and their families were evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, with President Obama the all-time leading recipient, according to a report from the Sunlight Foundation.

The transparency watchdog noted Tuesday that Democrats received 51 percent of contributions while Republicans received 49 percent, despite the firm's highly publicized links to the GOP, such as a $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association in August.

I hate getting into these comparisons but people made the Haiti relief vs Japan comparisons so I might as well bring the Somalian famine disaster into the discussion. I guess I won't make a comparison its just that I read this article thinking "gees I wish running fundraisers and charity donation campaigns was as popular with the Somalian situation as it was (and still is) with Japan relief.

My vote is definitely going to Rudy! I hope he can pull it out. If he can change NYC the way he did, he can do it just as damn fucking well nationally.

Funny ass shit though, the Republicans don't even know who the candidate is, but it's the same case as before. Anyone but Bush; anyone but Obama.

Wynn's not the only CEO ranting against Obama
    Wynn's Rant: One Among Many

    http://www.investors.com/NewsAnd…

In a Monday conference call, the casino magnate credited with revitalizing Las Vegas blasted President Obama, declaring him "the greatest wet blanket to business, progress and job creation in my lifetime."

The blast was remarkable for two reasons: Wynn has been a staunch supporter of the Obama administration from the beginning and still considers himself a Democrat. But even more remarkable, it's been out of character for CEOs such as Wynn to express their views in such blunt terms on political matters.

"A lot of people don't want to say that," he said. "They'll say, 'Oh God, don't be attacking Obama.' Well, this is Obama's deal, and it's Obama that's responsible for this fear in America," said Wynn. "The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution, and maybe 'we ought to do something to businesses that don't invest or (are) holding too much money.' We haven't heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists."

Home Depot Co-Founder: Obama Is Choking Recovery

    http://www.investors.com/NewsAnd…

Bernie Marcus co-founded Home Depot (HD) in 1978 and brought it public in 1981 as the U.S. was suffering from the worst recession and unemployment in 40 years. The company thrived, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and redefining home improvement retailing.

But Marcus says Home Depot "would never have succeeded" if it launched today due to onerous regulation. He recently helped launch the Job Creators Alliance, a Dallas-based nonprofit of CEOs and entrepreneurs dedicated to preserving the free enterprise system.

    • Ah yes, another fine example of Real Estate made wealth.IRNlun6
    • His example for stifling regulation is Obamacare? In housing? Ok, sure.IRNlun6
  • IRNlun60

^ Steve Wynn, made his billions in Real Estate, in Vegas. How's that Real Estate market in Vegas looking now? Regardless, he never supported Obama. In fact he campaigned for McCain.

    http://www.lvrj.com/news/1825246…

Plus I'd like to see some evidence as to how horrible Obama is for business. Pointing to the unemployment rate is a poor indicator because many of those jobs simply don't exist anymore. The market is doing well relative to the beginning of 2008, and companies are raking in record profits.

In my opinion, President Obama is failing at producing better free trade agreements that continue to send American jobs overseas. But in that case it's good for business, bad for domestic jobs production.

Comparing President Obama's term to President Bush's is ridiculous, but "anyone but Obama" is catchy, and I'll sure the right will use it to death. Thats really ignoring what Obama was left with after Bush left office.

    • you're completely full of shit, he changed his tune as soon as he saw O's lead, and now...?

In five days the UN Security Council will meet, and the world has an opportunity to embrace a new proposal that could turn the tide on decades of failed Israeli-Palestinian peace talks: UN recognition of the state of Palestine.

Over 120 nations from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America have already endorsed this initiative, but Israel's right-wing government and the US vehemently oppose it. Europe is still undecided, but a massive public push now could tip them to vote for this momentous opportunity to end 40 years of military occupation.

US-led peace initiatives have failed for decades, while Israel has confined the Palestinians to small areas, confiscated their lands and blocked their independence. This bold new initiative could be the best opportunity to jump start a resolution of the conflict, but Europe must take the lead. Let’s build a massive global call for European leaders to endorse this statehood bid now, and make clear that citizens across the world support this legitimate, non-violent, diplomatic proposal. Sign the petition and send this to everyone:

Barack Obama's 2008 bundlers flee political 'machine'

    http://www.politico.com/news/sto…

When Sen. Barack Obama began running for president in 2007, a small handful of determined, inspired supporters found a new political calling. A new group of professionals — from a San Juan jewelry store owner to a West Coast biotech executive — raised hundreds of thousands of dollars each for him and their “bundling” was crucial in helping Obama offset Hillary Clinton’s profound financial and institutional advantages.

Four years later, many of those new bundlers say they won’t be coming back. For reasons ranging from disillusion and dissatisfaction to an overriding sense that the once idealistic Obama crusade has become yet another soulless political behemoth, that inspired cadre of early Obama supporters has largely been replaced by professional Democratic Party operatives.

Take Action @ Grassroots Action Center
Encourage Your Members of Congress to support the repeal of this provision in the flawed health care law.

Send a letter to Congress now supporting H.R. 1744 and S. 20 to repeal the employer mandate and protect American jobs.Support H.R 1744, the American Job Protection Act
    http://www.votervoice.net/core.a…

Following one of the worst economic crises in recent history, small businesses are just now starting to resume growth and hiring. While the state of American business slowly improves, the real impact of the health care bill passed into law last year is just about to hit and is cited as one of the key contributor to small businesses' hesitancy to start rebuilding.

Starting in 2014, a business with 50 or more full time "equivalent" employees must provide employer-sponsored health insurance or pay steep fines (about $2,000 per employee). The health insurance must be government-approved, covering a broad range of benefits chosen by Washington bureaucrats but paid for by employers. In addition, some businesses that already offer generous health benefits will be fined $3,000 for each employee who instead opts into the new health insurance exchanges.

This policy is already destroying jobs, making businesses reluctant to expand and risk hiring a 50th employee, as well as hesitant to take on new projects that will require additional staff. Employers are also attempting to limit their exposure to the $3,000 fines by reducing the number of low-skilled employees on staff, who are more likely to trigger these fines.

Legislation in both the House and Senate known as the "American Job Protection Act" has been introduced to repeal the job-destroying employer mandate included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
