some NUTTY laws there - American's who believe in sovereignty will lose their shit the minute someone from another country attempts to arrest someone over here...I can't say that disagree w/the idea / philosophy that international banking criminals can finally 'get theirs'... I'm all for it... but I get the feeling that's not really the desire here... but this is just more of a push for that single world order - borderless law... no national sovereignty... ONE BIG FUCKING HAPPY FAMILY!!!

I find it entirely humorous that you rightwing tools get all upset about this shit because it will affect America's dainty freedom sensibilities yet you espouse it's every Americans right to fly high tech military gizmos into anyone's living room anywhere on the planet and explode if they look at you wrong. Bonus points if the explosion looks good all pixelated and id ran on TV with some announcer intoning deeply over it about "freedom being fought for".

"A Decade With No Income Gains"
http://economix.blogs.nytimes.co…
This is why it's mystifying to me why anyone would vote for more radical right-wing economics at this point...it's proven not to work.
After Roosevelt instituted the minimum wage, Social Security and other workers rights, we had three decades of prosperity which basically invented the middle class. After Reagan and Bush, the deficit ballooned and wage gains for the average person were nonexistent. And you want more of that?

What gives?
First, after the crazy "Christmas Day" terrorist ignites a bomb gone bad that blows up his crotch and singes his (tighty-whitey) underwear, Janet Napolitano comes out on the talk shows and confidently states that the “system worked".
Then, just today, the US announces that "airport security to target 14 countries, to single out citizens of “terror-prone” nations for more stringent airline security checks".
Does anyone agree with me that this whole fiasco just smells straight up foul?

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele predicted Monday night that the GOP will not regain control of the House in the 2010 midterm elections.
Steele said during an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity that Republicans will see some “nice pick-ups in the House” but would not predict the number of seats the GOP will win. “I can't give a number yet,” Steele said. “We are just now beginning to look at races.”
Asked if Republicans will retake the House, Steele responded: “Not this year.” Steele added: “We still have vacancies that need to get filled. “If we do that, are we ready? I don't know. That's what I'm assessing and evaluating now.”

It's funny, conservatives got everything they wanted during the final years of Clinton and all of Bush's presidencies. Low to no taxes, completely unregulated business, completely open markets. Why are we not in the free market utopia that everyone predicted?

Sure it is great that one in a million can become rich but that was always possible, the real problem is that for the remaining 999,999 their real income has stagnated under the past ten years.
Pretty much across the board, economic policy this decade was as "free market"/ libertarian as they come...Bush was the poster boy for that, cutting taxes massively when we had no money to do it...and look at the results.
You can bitch and whine about how you're overtaxed and big government but unless you point to actual facts to support it the whining rings pretty hollow.
- TO deny this is completely dishonest. Don't let your ideology get in the way of facts.DrBombay

As an aside, I find it incredibly funny that the rightwing is calling the current legislation "government takeover of our health care system" while the actual legislation kills the public option and turns over management and profits of the system to private market insurers. The only role government has in this "takeover" is to legally expound citizens to buy insurance plans from private insurers. This serves neither government or citizens, but does great things for insurance company executives and stockholders.
What was "taken over" was the government by a kleptocratic concentration of private wealth.
Of course in the prism of no-nothing rightwing douchebags this equals "government takeover" and not what it is, corruption wrought by crony capitalism.

Ukit,
Sorry but this decade of economics was no where near free market / libertarian. Greenspan completely toyed with the interest rates.. which I'd argue is a key cog in economic systems, that's Keynesian. What do you see happening with the interest rates now? Yeah, they're still being molested. How exactly do you think that the last decade was representative of free market??
'but unless you point to actual facts' is that how you came to your conclusion of 'one in a million can become rich'? Look, I've known lot's of people who have money, not a single one of them actually started off with money. I know that's probably an anomaly since I'm sure a majority of people who are considered 'wealthy' probably started off with some sort of familial financial reserves. The problem I have is that some of you seem to think you're locked into your socioeconomic position and that is simply false. The funny thing to me is that the people who seem so locked into that theory are constant posters on this site. I work 8 - 10 hours a day while you guys post 8 - 10 hours a day... do the math.
