You don't have very expectations for your politicians do you bombay?

@DrBombay
I'm not sure that either of the other Presidential candidates would be doing any better, but what I'm trying to say here is that I hoped that Obama would walk the walk that he promised throughout his campaign. Call me naive is you wish, but yes, I actually believed that he might actually be THE man who would for once, do everything that he promised to do. If he did, he would imho be having a much better Presidential run. More and more people would be satisfied, and the overall mood of America and the world would be much different. But instead, it's a complete 180. Please tell me where I'm wrong, because to be called naive, to me seems a little week???
- DrBombay0
Complete 180? Explain how. He promised stimulus, he promised less in Iraq and more in Afghanistan. What is the "complete 180".
The transparency thing, I think is more of a naivete of Obama than anything. You can't run government and expect to be re-elected with 100% transparency.
- He promised to close guantanamo, which is being done.DrBombay
- Much to the chagrin of Republicans, especially in Illinois.DrBombay
- guantanmo is the scape goat, there's an entire secret prison INDUSTRY that Obama has shoved under the carpet by closing Guantanamoeieio
- forget the fact that he says a lot of BS even the stuff he does do is hypocritical and ultimately a distraction from the realityeieio
- Welcome to US Politics. You should vote for Barney next time around.DrBombay
- ok, I'm convinced he's the man for the plan!eieio

here one take on Obama's campaign pledges.

^ Cmon man, any analysis that ends with "Outright lie" and Deceit" for every item isn't exactly being neutral;)
- lol at neutralityjohndiggity
- believe it or not there are plenty of analyses like this that are, try fakecheck.org or snopesukit
- lol, factcheck.org, Freduian slip thereukit

Obama is basically governing as a centrist
Which in America means you are a radical communist;)
- Maybe even center-rightist by past standardsukit
- I don't think he's acting like a centrist in any way. No way center/right compared to Clinton. Clinton was a true centrist.********
- centrist.********
- How so?ukit
- You said you voted for him based on campaign promises, he certainly hasn't governed to the left of thatukit
- Uh, buy auto, banks, and now healthcare makes you a centrist? Education is a tool you need.********
- A brain is a tool you needukit

@DrBombay
I'm actually not a huge fan of how the administration is handling the closing of Guantanamo. I definitely don't want terrorist prisoners coming to my state, that's for sure. For that matter I'm not a huge fan either of the administrations' handling of the wars that we're in. I feel very strongly about homeland security and our brave military so Obama really needs to pay attention to these matters most of all, which he really seems to be neglecting. Please tell me if I'm wrong.- You're wrongukit
- Are you afraid of all of the murderers and rapists in those local prisons too? Think of how irrational that is...DrBombay
- There aren't any terrorists at Guantanamo.monospaced

1.21pm:
Chávez described Obama's speech as "ridiculous" and his initial offer of a $10bn fund for poor countries as "a joke". He calls Obama a "great frustration" because so many people had such high hopes of him.Chávez suggests he is leaving in protest at the failure of the talks. "We can't wait any longer, we are leaving. We will reject any document that Obama tries to slip under the door."
- ********0
Obama should not be promising $10 billion dollars to "poor countries". Do any of you understand how utterly outrageous this is? Completely unbelievable. Obama needs to come home now.
- lowimpakt0
"Do any of you understand how utterly outrageous this is?"
can you explain to us how the money is to be used and where it comes from?
- ********0
@lowimpakt
My basic understanding is that portions of these funds are being distributed throughout South America. I am not certain, but, some portion of these funds must be coming out of your and my taxes. My problem is that I don't believe that the recipients of these funds are putting said dollars to "best use". In fact, I am certain of this fact.
This is my main frustration. Handing over billions of dollars to bad, bad people. I'm not trying to come across as racist or anything like that. I'm just saying that that's a boat load of money that could be so much better spent here at home.
How can you disagree?
- eieio0
If "poor countries" = "bad, bad people" then "rich countries" = "bribers" of "bad, bad people"
- Well said eio. :-)********
- to be clear though, the people of poor countries aren't who's bad, but unfortunately, their leaders are.********
- and their leaders are the one's who will intercept our funds.********
- That's why there need to be actual targets and verification of progress, which Obama is insisting onukit
- realize they're bribing these "bad , bad people" for worseeieio
- Well said eio. :-)

$10 billion is a drop in the bucket when it comes to this kind of money.
Israel alone gets $3 billion A YEAR from the U.S., why are you not complaining about that. And before you say its national security related, clearly it's related to projecting power over the Middle East which is related to oil.

I surprised by the volume of people disappointed in President Obama. This guy gets handed the largest bag of shit I've seen in my lifetime, and it seems like people are pissed that he didn't wave a wand, say "presto-chango" and have everything sweet as pie.
It's only been ten months or so.
- Obama is just not doing a good job as President. That's why people are disappointed. Simple as that.********
- How are you quantifying this?DrBombay
- Obama is just not doing a good job as President. That's why people are disappointed. Simple as that.

"And a mass-murderer at Copenhagen lectures us about our crimes:
The anti-capitalist theme was picked up on by Mr Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s veteran President, who is the target of Western sanctions over alleged human rights abuses.
“When these capitalist gods of carbon burp and belch their dangerous emissions, it’s we, the lesser mortals of the developing sphere who gasp and sink and eventually die.”
UPDATE 3
Nothing is real in Copenhagen - not the temperature record, not the predictions, not the agenda, not the “solution”. In fact, here’s how fake it all is:
The lead negotiator for the small island nation of Tuvalu, the bow-tie wearing Ian Fry, broke down as he begged delegates to take tough action.
“I woke up this morning crying,” and that’s not easy for a grown man to admit,” Mr Fry said on Saturday, as his eyes welled with tears.
”The fate of my country rests in your hands,” he concluded, as the audience exploded with wild applause.
So moving. But let’s now learn more from Samantha Maiden about this former Greenpeace official from “Tuvalu”:
But the part-time PhD scholar at the Australian National University actually resides in Queanbeyan, NSW, where he’s not likely to be troubled by rising sea levels because the closest beach at Batemans Bay is a two-hour, 144km drive away. Asked whether he had ever lived in Tuvalu, his wife told The Australian last night she would “rather not comment”....
Still, it’s a long way from the endangered atolls of Tuvalu, with his neighbour Michelle Ormay confirming he’s lived in Queanbeyan for more than a decade, while he has worked his way up to being “very high up in climate change”."

he did not get handed shit, he ran for it
- that argument of o poor Ombamy , he got this mess BS! he wanted to tackle itBattleAxe
- The point is anyone would have had a tough time - there's no quick fix to any of these problemsukit
- Maybe he oversold it, but the last thing we need is to turn around and elect Palin or Romneyukit
- i agree, I just hate that argument and there is no quick fixesBattleAxe
- P.S. I'm not thrilled with what's happening on health care either. Just trying to be pragmaticukit

Thank God the right isn't in power - you guys wouldn't have a clue what to do. I love how every single Republican has decided they are a "scientific expert" because they saw on Fox or read in The Weekly Standard or Reason that GW is "fake." I won't shed a tear if some sort of global agreement fails, because I think ultimately moving past oil is dependent on private industry stepping up (and they are) - but to flat out deny the science because of your political leanings is idiotic.
- Why are you SO partisan ukit? Why??? It's a bit scary if you ask me. Wise up young man.********
- Sure I agree but how on earth do you think private business is stepping up on oil dependency?eieio
- haha, I'm not, but tell me with a straight face that Sarah Palin can run the countryukit
- Take the McCain/Palin sign out of your front yard and then tell me this isn't partisan.Mimio
