Here is something for the libertarians on this board
Recently I found this website called the Mises Institute, http://mises.org
a website aimed at "advancing Austrian School of libertarian political and social theory", of the type which teaches "be fat and proud, mr. capitalist, pound the workers with the iron club" etc.named after the austrian Ludwig von Mises, a man of the rarest level of stupidity and odiousness, phenomenally bad-smelling and very ugly, even compared to the rest of the teachers of libertarianism.
Half of the website http://mises.org is dedicated to the liberal utopia in Somalia and how good it would be to rebuild the whole world by their example. Articles like
Stateless in Somalia, and Loving It
http://mises.org/story/2066
Why I still haven't moved to Somalia
http://mises.org/Community/forum…All this because Somalia (at the time when the Mises website was founded) had no government, no taxes, no health care and no education, even no police and no courts.
Instead Somalia had clan organizations, if youre outside the clan, anyone is basically free to rape and kill you -- literally.Libertarians see in this the triumph of libertarianism, because there are no limitations to whatever power structures are actually functioning in the country (islamic fundamentalism, amputation of hands as punishment for stealing etc) -- for normal people in Somalia this is the ultimate hell and ,of course, while for the libertarians -- the most natural paradise on earth.
Im sure libertarianism, minimal government and lawlessness all sound like a wonderful idea, until it reaches all the way around and bites you in the ass. And then it immediately turns out that it is scary similar to Somalia, Nigeria and Russia.
To be a libertarian these days, is equal to taking a trip down to Somalia and start explaining to the locals that they live much better and frier lives than people in the West.

At the end of the day, if I drive around with a license plate frame that says Patronize White-Owned Businesses, I would most likely be shot at or beaten. It doesn't work the other way though, does it? Racism, prejudism, call it what you want. It's not right.

It is also important to note that since the dawn of man, there has been, and continues to be prolific inner-race racism throughout the world. For example, Egyptians took slaves from and murdered millions of fellow Egyptians. The Chinese did the same for thousands of years. Hitler murdered millions of fellow "whites" along with his EU and eastern contemporaries. African warlords have murdered millions of fellow Africans in the name of ethnic cleansing. Speaking of ethnic cleansing (form of racism), how many millions more have been enslaved, raped and murdered say, since the turn of the century?
Answer here please...
In fact, today African Americans are racist towards fellow African Americans, Whites are racist against Whites, Mexicans against Mexicans and so on.
How about Kim Jong Ill? Racist. Extreme Islamic Leaders? Racist. Malcom X? Racist. Jeremiah Wright? Racist. KKK leaders? Racist. And the list goes on. Each not only racist towards other races, but teaching and fostering hate, and even enslaving and killing their own kind, on their own soil.
Bottom line, everyone is prejudiced at a minimum, thus racist in some form, yes, including each of you on this thread. Although not the best of man, it is part of the human condition. Please just admit it and move on.
- So, you have special knowledge of what happened at the "dawn of man"?TheBlueOne
- "inner race racism"? So you just make up shit to backup your dumbshit points?TheBlueOne

i read the article - the guy's people say he's fine and out for a week... aka - get lost... more power to him (and I'd say the same thing if this was his Grace, 'Oblama').
- ukit0
Yea...still kinda weird that he is all over the national press for a few days and still nothing??
Maybe I'll try doing this at my job next time I feel like I need a break:)

Obama in his press conference today opened by speaking to the situation in Iran...
In a word: INADEQUATE
- WOW, just one question about Iran so far. Obama's answer was so sad if you're Iranian. No backbone at all.********
- WTF do expect us to do? Invade another country that doesn't want our help? Do you know the history between us and them?********
- and them?********
- I think it has to do more with Obama's laxidasical tone. We really need a Reagan moment here. Obama needs to be fierce and convincing in his response.********
- and convincing in his response.********
- don't we invade countries that d'nt want out help anywaysBattleAxe
- A Reagan moment? FFS are you stuck in the stone ages?********
- "Gorbechof, tear down those walls". Get it?********

It's interesting how during the election everyone in the media predicted health care reform with a public plan would pass easily...they forgot that the Democrats are just as corporatist as the Repubs, just paid for by different interest groups.

Think for yourself
Question authorityThroughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.
Think for yourself.
Question authority.- Hmmm. Not bad.********
- this statement goes against everything that you stand for. Yet you agree with it. Do you know who said this?********

Wow, a reporter just asked Obama 1) How many cigarettes do you smoke per day? 2) When and where do you smoke cigarettes? 3) Will the new tobacco legislation help you to quite smoking?
Fascinating stuff his response. He looked "busted". He said he didn't smoke in front of his wife or children. A closet smoker he is.
I have to think that he is cringing right now. This is not the question that he wanted asked in a national press conference.
- So you're one of those mythical Americans that dumbs down political discourse. Always thought they were mythical.TheBlueOne

How does empty rhetoric or non-binding resolutions from the U.S. in support of the Iranian opposition help in this situation? What do you hope for this to accomplish?
My opinion (like others) feel it will just be used against the U.S. and Iranian supporters of the opposition party.
- But that doesn't get his dick hard and let him throw shit like the other beta males.TheBlueOne

I honestly think if our President came out early with harsh wording on:
1) human right violations (of which Iran is guilty of many),
2) the inherent rights of a democracy to allow their people freedoms (of which there are a controlled number there), and voicing strong language against violence against free speech and the right to peaceful assembly as a means to allow a country's people their voice (something that being black in America should qualify him to speak towards)that we would feel better about his foreign policy position in situations much like this. That he had to wait until the video of Neda was posted everywhere to do so is, in my opinion, weak. It doesn't take much. It's not a tricky issue.

The strategically smart thing to do right now is to let the Iranians do their thing. If the US intervenes, the Mullahs will blame the great satan and ratchet up all of their rhetoric and the people will buy it and blame the US for their problems.
If you can't see that, you are blind.
- the mullahs are exactly the people driving that country to ruin. let ethem do their thing, sure, speaking out against violence...that's ok too.zenmasterfoo
- Right now they are unable to blame America for this shit going on in their country, don't you get it?DrBombay
- If you want a revolution, let the Iranians drive it.DrBombay
