Oh hey lady your husband is smiling from heaven for that record standing ovation but he's still dead due to my fucking incompetence.
Jesus Christ on a rolling cracker.

Well, hate him or love him or don't care, if you managed to listen/watch without any bias, Trump's speech was quality. Obviously written by someone else, but the delivery was good and we saw a different (calm, collected, more-human) Trump in his tone and demeanor.
- like harley davidson with 100% tax rate abroad?sted
- "It was a conventional presidential address, delivered conventionally. Any other year, that would be unremarkable."fadein11
- "As is typical of such addresses, the text was light on policy and marinated in cliches and political pabulum, touching on most of Mr Trump's agenda in vaguefadein11
- generalities"fadein11
- Yep - was very presidential.fadein11
- touched on everything he stands forchukkaphob
- Yepfadein11
- we're at the stage where a president is praised for being able to coherently read a script.lowimpakt
- ha yes and for acting more like a president and less like a petulent child.fadein11
- should be tarred and feathereddasohr
- Oh fuck him. The next missive and he'll be back banging out Tweets at 5am while on the shitter.face_melter
- Solving drugs problems by repression, put more money in military instead of people...humanity is fucked.ApeRobot
- I'd love to see you do it fadein. Give the guy a break. He doesn't have a lifetime of training in being a politician. He probably works 16 hours a day and..********
- ...and has all of a sudden been given one of the most responsibility heavy jobs in the world. I think I'd probably mess up and come across a bit stupid too.********
- People hate him because he's said a few silly things and sometimes appears ineloquent compared to past presidents, which he is...********
- but people seriousl need to recalibrate that moral compass of theirs.********
- @set - what are you on about? I posted that it was the most presidential he has been yet. Your brain really operates on autopilot. Read things before your kneefadein11
- jerk reaction kicks in. And as everyone keeps saying, if you are not worried about the bunch of loons in his team your moral compass needs recalibratingfadein11
- Lol @ defending him again. Lol @ forgetting everything he has said and putting it down to nerves. Hilarious. You don know he just announced he is growing thefadein11
- military massively - the fucking US military is growing and you whine on about Obama's bomb count last year. You really need to have a think before you speakfadein11
- sometimes.fadein11
- lol @ assuming complete support because someone defends one or two aspects of the blind attack on someone. Do you think that's an intelligent response?********
- [insert smallbrain/simpleton insult here]fadein11
- I told you yesterday I never once said that some of the loons in his team are worrying. Have you forgotten that already?********
- aren't worrying*********
- Talk about pot calling the kettle black with the knee-jerk reactions, haha.********
- Yes but you singled me out after I commented that it was his most presidential performance yet... is that an intelligent response?fadein11
- Whatever. Too busy today. You win. You are a genius. Have a good day.fadein11
- You said it was presidential, sarcastically, after posting two quotes to defend your point. Why are you pretending otherwise now? Odd fellow.********
- I was quoting an article that said his speech was very typical of that kind of presidential address - which was surprising for Trump. So no sarcasm - just whatfadein11
- I said - most presidential performance to date. Zero sarcasm. See - your autopilot brain kicked in again and calls me an odd fellow... lolfadein11
- Regardless of that okayish performance I still despise him, but I have the ability to notice when he behaves like a leader and not a child.fadein11
- Is that clearer for you now? I would rather not have to get into another endless loop with you if at all possible.fadein11
- lol ok pal. You going back to your busy day now?********
- If you don't want to come off as a trump defender, set, then stop defending him. It's a perception thing. You attack people who criticize him. Chill guys pleasemonospaced
- I'm chilled mono - all good, just having to make my point clear to set. He misunderstood. @set - super busy today but feeling the need to explain myself as youfadein11
- insulted me yet again.fadein11
- It's too easy********
- oh come on mate - you misunderstood my post and looked a bit silly again. At least others are starting to notice your behaviour round here... really not lookingfadein11
- for an argument with you at all. Have a great day mate :)fadein11
- In a related note. Trump has had years to practice speaking. It's not a mystery anymore: he only sounds passable when he's reading a script someone else wrote.monospaced
- Most adults of his claimed background, iq and prestige don't struggle so much when speaking off script. It's just a fact of life.monospaced
- @mono - nope it's just nerves - big job and all :)fadein11
- le sighmonospaced
- and lol @ "more-human" on so many levelsmonospaced
- set didn't you say you were hard left at some point? So what about Trump's far right wing agenda is good exactly from that perspective?yuekit
- @yuekit - he did indeed in one of our great wars of 2016.fadein11
- Tax cuts for the rich, increase military spending while slashing assistance for the poor, deport millions of immigrants....it all seems very counter to left wingyuekit
- worldview....I could be wrong though :/yuekit
- I would say left-leaning with more focus on the 'grand conspiracy' ruling the world - which leads to mistrust of all governance and sympathy with anythingfadein11
- that appears to be breaking the mould.fadein11
- @yuekit it's incredible how you skewed 3 points out of more than 10 so that you can fit your own liberal anti-Trump narrative!chukkaphob
- "Tax cuts for the rich" uhm, he never said that. LOL!chukkaphob
- "increase military spending while slashing assistance for the poor" uhm, nope. Never said it'll be in favor of slashing assistance for the poor. LOL!chukkaphob
- "deport millions of immigrants" uhm, nope. Never said that; instead said that he's after illegal immigrants, especially the ones who have committed crimes. LOL!chukkaphob
- And then you ignored all the other talking points (simply because they don't fit your agenda): improving infrastructure, empowering women, ...chukkaphob
- ... taking care of the veterans, making the workplace better for working parents, making sure every child in America has access to a good education, etc.chukkaphob
- let's hope so for you guys eh, the military agenda is my biggest concern being non-Americanfadein11
- @fadein11 where are you from?chukkaphob
- UK - who ends up fighting your wars with youfadein11
- chukka why LOL? Did you bother looking into any of this stuff?yuekit
- "the top 1 percent would get about half of the benefits of his tax cuts"
http://www.npr.org/2…yuekit - "President Trump will instruct federal agencies on Monday to assemble a budget for the coming fiscal year that includes sharp increases in Defense Departmentyuekit
- spending...social safety net programs, aside from the big entitlement programs for retirees, would also be hit hard."yuekit
- https://www.nytimes.…yuekit
- @yuekit i won't even bother clicking on the links. LOL! npr? nytimes? ultra-liberal leftist propaganda. hahaha! now it all makes sense why you talk the way u dochukkaphob
- lol @ chukka calling nytimes ultra-liberal propaganda ... holy shitmonospaced
- chukkka where do you get your news from? Do you hang out on the_donald? LOLyuekit
- Do you salute a cardboard cutout of Trump every morning? Come back to reality man, the NYT and NPR didn't make those numbers up.yuekit
- In fact the tax and spending plans are coming directly from the Trump administration itself. Good luck refuting that.yuekit
- I'm an independent who doesn't support Trump. I am just sitting on the sidelines observing the left<-->right bickering and enjoying my popcorn.chukkaphob
- All I know is that both, the left&right are biased AF.
I didn't comment after reading the news; I was just commenting on what I saw on TV with my own eyes.chukkaphob - You may be an independent but calling the NYT and NPR "leftist propaganda" to the point where you refuse to even read well sourced articles suggests you areyuekit
- not exactly neutral.yuekit
- A politician in a speech says some boilerplate stuff about helping women and vets and you believe him. Reporters do a detailed analysis of his tax planyuekit
- based on facts and numbers and gets dismissed out of hand. Trump couldn't ask for a better non-supporter :/yuekit
- I listen to NPR, again, with no bias, and that's why I can clearly tell they're definitely a leftist propaganda. Forrest for the trees.chukkaphob
- I listen to AM radio as well, and all I hear is the right agenda twisting and skewing data/facts via opinionated "news reports."chukkaphob
- ...just like NP and the NYT do it on behalf of the left.
If you step outside your bias, it's all VERY clear and transparent.chukkaphob - There's 1.3% news reported and 98.7% biased opinions passed on as news.chukkaphob
- What is propaganda about it? You're saying they just made up the numbers in the article I posted?yuekit
- Anyway. See my original post. I was making the point that the speech and delivery were quality & a new tone, if you don't watch through political bias lenses.chukkaphob
- I don't know man, I don't think it makes sense to compare NPR to right wing talk radio. Maybe there is some left-leaning slant in terms of the subject matteryuekit
- but they are at least a genuine news organization that does real reporting. And same goes for New York Times.yuekit
- How about Wall Street Journal?
"Nearly half the benefits of the plan, and a higher proportion of savings, would go to the top 1%"yuekit - https://www.wsj.com/…yuekit
- I find it disturbing when people simply dismiss things they don't want to be true based on ad hominem "leftist propaganda" or "fake news."yuekit
- OK, fair enough; I'll admit I hesitated to click on the links because of the sources and was expecting to see yet another opinion column passed on as news.chukkaphob
- I didn't know you were citing articles with raw data. MMy bad on that. But even when you look at the data, it does look that the middle class will benefit.chukkaphob
- Why are people so hung up on how the tax code will benefit the wealthy? Most wealthy people contribute to the well being of society.chukkaphob
- It looks like the plan will benefit the middle class, and part of the lower class, and the 1% as well, and not just the 1%.chukkaphob
- Well for one thing because Trump has offered no means to pay for the plan which means it will add trillions to the deficit.yuekit
- So think about it...trillions in tax savings for the rich which gets added to the deficit, which we then all owe equally.yuekit
- Also unclear why a tax break for the rich is needed right now at a time of record inequality. Half the benefits go to 1%? That's crazy.yuekit
- You do know that (MOST) of the wealthy are NOT evil, right? (even if the likes of Bernie and the biased leftist propaganda paints them as evil) Right?chukkaphob
- And that they spend their wealth. Right? And reinvesting their wealth stimulates the economy. Right? And that their wealth is not $ that vanishes. Right?chukkaphob
- And that large percentage of the wealthy are brilliant people who deserve their status. Right?chukkaphob
- Or maybe you disagree on all that?chukkaphob
- I think an economy that gets too unbalanced in terms of rich vs. poor is less efficient and actually hurts capitalism.yuekit
- What you're talking about here is what they call trickle down economics, give tax breaks to the ultra rich and it will "trickle down" the rest of society.yuekit
- It's a theory that sounds great if you are one of those rich people getting a huge tax cut.yuekit
- George Bush tried the same policy, his tax cuts were similar to what Trump's proposing, and the middle class has actually seen a decline since then whileyuekit
- deficit has skyrocketed.yuekit
- It's just funny what is viewed as acceptable in U.S. politics...imagine if someone proposed spending $5 trillion to help the bottom 1% of society. That would beyuekit
- viewed as completely insane, but for some reason we're all expected to go deeper into debt so the rich can get a tax cut.yuekit
- @yuekit I see your views and I'm glad I engaged in this discussion with you. Some good points and real data shared and a civil exchange of thought. Thanks dude!chukkaphob
- While I often disagree with yuekit, he's always a class act. I usually prefer the calling everyone stupid cunts approach personally.********
- thanks guys, I agree and the worst thing you can do is seal yourself off in a bubble and never listen to different point of view.yuekit
- I'm in Indonesia right now, yesterday smoked up with a local and listened to him rant about how Islam is mathematical and the world is going to end in a coupleyuekit
- decades when Jesus returns and kills the Illuminati. Point being, our disagreements are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things :)yuekit

Shortly after President Donald Trump addressed a Joint Session of Congress for the first time since taking the oath of office, CNN's Van Jones called one particularly moving moment from the speech the real estate mogul's most presidential to date.
Less than an hour after Trump honored the widow of a slain NAVY Seal, the Democratic commentator suggested that the commander in chief had officially begun to look the part.
"He became President of the United States in that moment, period," said Jones, after the evening's most emotional point was replayed by CNN's Anderson Cooper.
"That was one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics," Jones added.WHAT?
I must be unbelievably cynical...but seriously, what made that moment so extraordinary? Reading out a pre-prepared tribute to a grieving widow? It was a touching moment, but more because of her rather than him.

this little feature on WhiteHouse press access on Newsnight last night was quite interesting
- Yep saw that - very interesting piece.fadein11
- He's the first president to out the mainstream media as bias, lying, fake news producing weasels and that's somehow a bad thing? Hello BBC********
- you obviously haven't watched itfadein11

- @fax - yep it was. Great piece.fadein11
- very interesting, thanks fax.
and yes fadein, it's very obvious that set either didn't watch it, or is illustrating his own bias in spite of watching itBuddhaHat - I watched it. I'm impartial and unbiased Z that's how I'm able to see the few positive things Trump has done so far, unlike the gaggle of blind haters abound********
- good things like absolutely no mention of climate change in the speech? good things like cuts to medicare? the good things like no mention of wealth inequality?BuddhaHat
- good things like an increase in spending on what is already the largest military in the world by several orders of magnitude?BuddhaHat
- good things like cutting public services to build a wall that won't work? good things like a tax on Mexico imports that will hurt the average consumer the most?BuddhaHat
- but he got rid of Nafta, TTIP and TTPfadein11
- and set, specifically regarding the military issue, you're the one who has posted 'but Obama's bombing', and here's someone who wants to increase spending..BuddhaHat
- and has been quoted as saying that America needs to 'start winning wars again', directly implying the potential for new conflicts abroad.BuddhaHat
- Based on the evidence, it seems like a contradictory position to be holding.BuddhaHat
- Did I not say 'a few good things'? I'm aware he is also following suit as the President of the U.S and planning to do terrible things too.********
- Once again you assume blanket support simply because I'm pointing out the blind, angry, emotionally fuelle anger towards him, that was lacking...********
- ...towards the last president, even though he has a far, far, far, far worse portfolio of actions. I don't doubt Trump will probably leave with one as...********

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter with a half-million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . . This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Most people I've witnessed that are against Trump have become a slightly less exaggerated version of this black lives matter guy.

- No offense but the people who are brainwashed are those who think Trump is so different just because he has "anti-establishment" credyuekit

- And people say what a brilliant president Obama was. Again without really looking at actions but simply what kind of a man he seems to be on the TV********

- Now I get your point on foreign policy, Obama was more interventionist than his rhetoric suggested and the media barely covered some of it.yuekit
- However aside from wanting to make nice with Putin I don't think Trump is really that much of a peacemaker himself. He is continuing drone strikes, continuingyuekit
- to assist Saudi war in Yemen, etc. Sounds more hawkish than Obama against both China and Iran.yuekit
- We'll see. If the hysteria against Trump leads to greater opposition to U.S. wars then that would actually be a good thing.yuekit

Remember: what people do wrong is remembered a lot more than what they do right, and it's remembered for a lot longer.
Just because Trump managed to read from a TelePrompTer for an hour and maintain some semblance of maturity shouldn't be fawned over. This isn't a game changer. This isn't a pivot. It isn't proof that he's changed. He has incredible ground to make up in terms of exhibiting that he possesses the maturity, dignity, intellect, intelligence, and knowledge to do that job. One prepared speech doesn't change shit. I'm sure he'll be right back to rabidly showcasing his outrageous ego on Twitter by tomorrow morning.
