Remember: what people do wrong is remembered a lot more than what they do right, and it's remembered for a lot longer.

Just because Trump managed to read from a TelePrompTer for an hour and maintain some semblance of maturity shouldn't be fawned over. This isn't a game changer. This isn't a pivot. It isn't proof that he's changed. He has incredible ground to make up in terms of exhibiting that he possesses the maturity, dignity, intellect, intelligence, and knowledge to do that job. One prepared speech doesn't change shit. I'm sure he'll be right back to rabidly showcasing his outrageous ego on Twitter by tomorrow morning.

    • so true, I'm surprised at all the rhetoric that it's been a pivot.Gnash
    • if he can get elected, he can probably get re-elected. But to do so, he'll have to cross over to some extent. Speech could be the first sign of thatFax_Benson
    • Democrats need to to stop hoping he fails and start expecting him to get a second termFax_Benson
    • Gnash - that's easy: short attention spans, media-at-large sells narratives, not news, and a populace that's as apathetic as they are complacent.mg33
    • I don't think anyone here thought that was a gamechanger do they? It was a v.ordinary presidential address which people were not expecting from him.fadein11
    • It's no game changer. The bar is set so low for him. Calling it special or exemplary would be like congratulating an employee for finally showing upmg33
    • lol - indeed.fadein11
    • to work on time. Like they did something amazing. Showing up on time is expected; it's a bare minimum and doesn't deserve rabid praise.mg33
    • LOL at this CNN "70% of Americans feel better about the country's direction after the speech" poll that's out this morning.mg33
    • 70% of what? Customers leaving a walmart in Arkansas?dorkKn1ght
    • I like the alternative headline "70% of Americans easily swayed by one hour speech that changes nothing."mg33
    • ^ lolGnash
    • :)mg33
    • Or "30% of American know that a prepared speech and a modicum of self control don't prove anything."mg33
    • "70% of Americans feel better about the country's direction after the speech" is a bit worrying, no?Fax_Benson
