what does SHE think?
- joelski0
Yeah she only got into medicine in canberra....so if she doesn't take it there is a option she could come with me but the that would be forcing her to change her life goal...

I reckon she should understand what a big chance this is for you. She could go to med school anywhere.
- Med school in the US is different from aus no? find out whether: if she qualified in the US, if she would be able to work in aus, and vice versa. It could be that she'd be able to get a more versatile qualification in the US - win win!vespa

go to nyc
if she really is The One™ it will work out.

you're in nyc.

I would second that; long distance r'ships do not work. If they do, it's a only for a short period until the strain gets too much and then some kind of action is required.
R'ships are also based on compromise - can she study med. anywhere else? Locally/overseas?
And although you guys have feelings involved with this decision, lets get realistic... you guys have been dating for 1.5yr only which is relatively short, she is quite young also and has those student years to go through yet.
I would have to say to say the NYC option looks more promising - carear, contacts, social scene, mixed cultural scene, etc... or am I being too heartless and too biased?! :-S the poor girl !

med school is seriously expensive in ny

You have to be certain this relationship is strong before you can risk throwineg away your career for a slip of a girl. So have sex with somone else. Let her find out. See how she deals with it...
1. If she's fine with it, go to NY, screw around, have fun. She loves you and will be waiting patiently.
2. If she goes nuts and dumps you, go to NY, screw around, have fun. Who gives a shit what she does.
- this is shit advice SkyPoo.GiZounds
- Okay, maybe let her catch you rubbing one out to a tubby porn magazine instead, then as per the post.SkyPoo
- You misspelled "sound".********

Damn... what a tuff decision. Maybe a weekend in Vegas with a few hookers will help you figure it out.
- No really though.... very difficult decision. Sorry to hear it's weighing you down so.********

she has already studied a masters in Science so there is a possibility she could come to ny and live with me and work as a scientist if he doesn't get in....but she actually said its always been her dream so she would try again the following year..i don't know I am freaked out about moving OS but i give it a go...+ I love NY in the summer ...doesn't get better then that
- she could study medicine in the US! you need to have a degree already to do this...vespa

So wait, let me get this straight. You're talking about traveling from Sydney Australia to NYC every 2 weeks? Unless you're rich or have your own plane, you'll be working overtime to pay off the airplane tix. Also, do you know how long of a flight that is? I reckon something like 24 hrs or more. I say just do the phone thing for now. If things are meant to be, well you know the saying.
- joelski0
you guys a great....even for the funny comments it helps hearing some other peeps thoughts
- joelski0
no dude..I would travel to sydney to canberra 4 hours drive...if I stayed in sydney...but if I move to ny it would obviously be over

Long distance ended in tears for me, so I wouldn't recommend it
Would you consider another country/city other than NYC? Somewhere she could study cheaply and there is enough creative stuff going on to keep you occupied and inspired?A friend recently moved to Berlin from Melbourne for work and his gf enrolled in a course there quite easily. Could be another option or avenue worth looking into?
good luck!
oh and another option for the US visa

If you really think she is the "love of your life" then that is your answer. Work will come and go and NYC will always be here. In my experience, love doesn't work like that.
