this is what you do:
tell her you're going for coffee. then casually suggest she come along. that gets you both out of the office and she will start seeing you as someone who exists outside of the work setting.
if she's not interested, she's either A) busy or B) not into you.
if A, throw it out there again some other time. DO NOT act like you give a shit.
if B,back off, but do your magic, subtly. (i generally will just act cocky as usual and make fun at her expense; insecurity makes girls want approval from you) and try again when you feel you've gotten her to the right point.
if she agrees, go out, get your coffee, get to know her. if you're not totally lame and awkward you can just continue seeing her like this and get on with your game.
never ever ever ask a girl on a date, that's like some stupid 80s shit i don't know who came up with. all that does is make everyone uncomfortable and make you look desperate.

happened to me once a few years back.
this girl was hot as sin. really liked her, but she had broken up with her boyfriend of 4 years, and you could tell she was still confused. still had feelings for him even though she had dumped him.
came over one night and had dinner, watched a movie and she seemed really odd. so i asked her what was up and she told me she had slept with her ex. it hurt a little but it's not like we had been dating long. she looked confused and really sad. the more i thought about it the more it hurt, so i got up and walked out.
half-way to my car, i felt like a shit, i knew she didn't mean to hurt me. i walked back in, she was crying. i walked up and gave her a hug. she asked why didn't i hate her. i told her it wasn't my style.
i said good bye and that was more or less the last time i saw / talked to her. it still hurt, but i felt i did the right thing.
then a couple months later i found my beautiful (current) girlfriend

ahahaha. She'd maintained throughout the time we were together that she wanted to take it slow, though she kept inviting me over to her place late at night. (and yes, we hit it). But then this weekend she said she had time to talk with her x and think about things and they wanted to give it one more go.

It always happens, I remember when JackRyan, kona and flavorful were fighting over CALLES, and they were all 'dating' him at the time. You could feel the tension in every thread, emails asking random people to talk to CALLES and make him understand who was the best option for him, etc... It was crazy son!
But then, a young fella appeared, 7point something, and swept CALLES off his clear stilettos. They became best buddies at first, then they started going out to movies and for some coffee... you know the story. Before long, they were exchanging pics and IMs and going on 'business trips' to meet each other.
7point34 fell hard for CALLES, he even thought they would end up moving to California and marrying, but deep inside, (well not so deep) CALLES knew he was just testing the waters and seeing how truly green the grass was on the other side... he also knew he had always been and will always be a slut. So, nedless to say, CALLES told 7point34 that he was not ready for a commitment and that he had a chance to talk to his exes..er..ex.
Being the nice naive guy he is, 7point34 understood and moved on...or did he?
This might give you an idea of why they keep posting and are so interested in this thread and the ending of the story.
