Did someone just watch Penn & Teller's Bullshit? Be honest now.

I'm not trying to be sensational or create a big debate (That has already been done here)....only trying to get people to at least consider the possibility that what if the information that we have all seen on global warming a million times is wrong?

I'm with designbot to a certain point... to the point where I too believe this is a natural cycle the earth is going through.
Plus something interesting is that it seems like the whole solar system is undergoing global warming. Look into it, it's not just earth that is warming up.
here's one link...

Regardless if we are creating global warming or not, we have severally fucked and continually fuck up our planet, that to me is more sickening the global warming or no global warming.

Even if it is wrong, there are social, economic, political, and justice reasons to be "green".
Not counting what you are trying to debate which is the actual environmental aspect.

Known for its massive ice sheets, Greenland is feeling the effects of global warming as rising temperatures have expanded the island's growing season and crops are flourishing. For the first time in hundreds of years, it has become possible to raise cattle and start dairy farms.
Ferdinand Egede would be a perfectly normal farmer if it weren't for that loud cracking noise. Wearing a plaid lumberjack shirt and overalls, he hurries through the precise rows of his potato field, beads of sweat running down his forehead.
Egede, 49, occasionally picks up a handful of earth and rubs it between his solid fingers, but he isn't at all satisfied with the results. "It's much too dry," he says. "If I don't get the irrigation going, I'll lose my harvest."
- The cracking noise has turned into a roar. What's happening in the sea below Egede's fields doesn't square well with what one would normally associate with rural life. The sound is that of an iceberg breaking apart, with pieces of it tumbling into the foaming sea.********

If like you say this is a natural cycle the earth is going through where then is the billions of tons of CO2 humanity produces going? And why are animal species that have been around for millions of years dieing out because of it? Your graphs suggest that this is a short cycle after all.

It being "natural" does not imply that we are not adding to it. Yes we are most definitely messing things up especially for ourselves and other living creatures on the surface, we should not forget that the planet is more than what we can see, and yes it is a shame, and yes there should be something done about cutting emissions and developing new green resources.

Let's face it, none of us are qualified to tell if it is or isn't due to human activity. So if we are going to use the scientists designbot mentioned as evidence, what do we do about the vast majority of scientists who DO believe it is real? Isn't that a more convincing argument? You will also find scientists who disagree with Darwin, but I'd rather listen to the majority who thinks he was right about the theory of evolution.

I do believe that global warming is true, happening, occuring right now under our feet and above our heads.
But even if it's not true, even if it's made u, etc.: can it hurt to still do things that will be good for the planet, like polluting less? like burning less toxic materials? like dumping in the ocean?

For the record: I will not say anything in this thread.

The part that scares me is that a lot of the "objections" are funded by oil companies who have a lot to gain if nothing is done - and people end up buying into it. It's foolish to trust a minority opinion in science when you don't know any better yourself.
- designbot0
I agree ukit. But I think the truth is there are lots of scientists who disagree...but they are not the ones being publicized. So it appears that there is some sort of "universal agreement" (or at least a majority) on the matter....when in fact this isn't the case.

Here's a survey that George Mason University did of American climate scientists, to put things in perspective a little.
Eighty-four percent say they personally believe human-induced warming is occurring, and 74% agree that “currently available scientific evidence” substantiates its occurrence. Only 5% believe that that human activity does not contribute to greenhouse warming; the rest are unsure.

I swear someone makes this claim on here to post this crap every month or so. Guess what your wrong theirs global warming, whether it means anything in the next 50 years or so we'll all soon find out in the mean while do something better with your day.

(from above info)
*The 2007 study was conducted by mail within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of Statistical Assessment Service between March 19 and May 28, 2007 among 489 professional scientists who were either a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) or the American Geophysical Union (AGU)With all do respect, I don't think after surveying 489 scientists you can conclude these percentages. Afterall, I just gave a list of over 17,000 scientists that disagree.

didn't the UN announce like a 95% concensus from a list of independant international scienctists like a year ago ?
