Oh man, major fail with my headphones yesterday.
Not sure what happened, but the ones I mentioned on the previous page - Sony MDR D66 Pro Eggo - have stopped working on the right ear. They were fine in the morning but at work later in the day, sound was only out of the left one. :(
I just tried wearing my Philips ear buds that I use when running, and I can't stand these for more than 5 minutes. ear buds are awful for me, I don't like the sound pressure at all. Sound isn't good either. I think these are awful for your inner ear in long doses.
I'm either going to have to try and fix my current ones, or just cry and beg my friend in Tokyo to track me down some, as they are rather discontinued, even the newer model, D77. I love those headphones - some people say the don't fit right on your ears; I say all other headphones don't fit right. These completely and anatomically cover your ears, soft inner pads, very comfortable. They fold up perfectly to fit in my bag.
Anyhow, if I come up short on getting replacements, can anyone suggest alternative brands that can fold up? I'd go for Grados, but again, not hot on a circular ear contact when i'm used to what I've had for years now.

designerror, how well do those condense/fold up? How is the fit? How do the earphones feel on the ears?
And what brand are they?

Oh man, so I took my Sony Eggo headphones in to get repaired, thinking it was just wiring that needed to be fixed.
They quoted the repair at $245 because the audio board or some gizmo needs to be replaced. I'm crushed! :(
The best thing about those Sonys were that they fold up nicely and fit in my bag.
Any suggestions on good portable headphones that fold up and are excellent audio quality? I'm in desperate need of new ones now and soon. $100 range give or take $20.

Just picked up these last week and now that they're burned in a bit they're sounding really great.
They fold flat and take up a thin amount of space in my messenger bag. It's taken some getting used to the different shape - my sony eggo's fit completely around my ears and blocked so much sound. These let a little bit more sound in but they feel really sturdy.
