yeah, i'm on a mac... no... i don't get a boner everytime apple releases new stuff....
my question is this:
Aside from all the cool gimmicks and stuff that Leopard has to offer, will it actually speed up my MAC as in faster photoshop processing or AE rendering? or is it just a bunch cutsie little shit like being able to browse everything by coverflow, but not actually contribute to my maching being faster more powerful workhorse i guess this all comes down to efficient coding on the platform..?
any takers on this subject?

I hope they revamped printing. Because it's utter shite.

there are over 300 new features, additions, modifications blah blah to the leopard os.
not sure if any of those will make your computer run faster. correct me if i'm wrong but that has a lot more to do with processing power and ram than the os. i could be wrong though, i'm a computer geek, but im' not a fucking major computer geek.

If anything, all these new features, graphicy things could actually make it slower, No?

I was reading about it yesterday, and had the same ?'s. Seems most of the "upgrades" are purely cosmetic and gimmicky. Very few performance upgrades, which is unfortunate cause the new CS3 suite runs like shiite on my 6 month old g5, I've pretty much decided to use CS2 until they can get the bugs worked out. Never have crashes, but the simplest shit takes massive processing power (for example clicking the type tool makes my computer think for 20 seconds). I was thinking of buying a new iMac for my house when Leopard comes out, so when I do I'll let you know how it works.

every release has been faster and leaner, as evidenced by the performance of my ancient blue G4 tower. i would be shocked if this release did not further the optimization and speed of the OS

i've heard from testers that it will definitely be the most significant OS X update to date.

more shit cool gimmick = more processing power needed

and bcline - if i remember correct from other posts, are you shopping for a new mac?
would def be worth waiting a couple weeks and ordering a mac that ships with Leopard.

i think all those gimmicks are just gonna eat up your ram...
so ...
processing times might be slower as well...

or is it just a bunch cutsie little shit

10.2 is a dog compared to 10.4, and there are far more "gimmicks" in 10.4.
it's not just what they implement, but how.
look at vista, i should be able to unlock the mysteries of the universe with that much RAM, and all i get is a sluggish clock

but then again, macs will be double as powerful next year

I just hope they optimize the OS to work better with the dual core intel chip. The last OS release was the first one on that platform, so in that time hopefully they've learned a thing or two. As I said CS3 runs like total shiite on a dual 2.4ghz dual core intel chip and 4gb of ram.
Simply turning a layer on or off takes 15 seconds.

will my CS software be able to run on Leopard?

(Oct 17 07, 09:43yes i know... but i'm just wondering if the new os is more robust cleaner code... efficient... ayadyaydayaydyaydya... or if it's more like what vista is to windows
