(Sep 25 07, 09:56)So because he books I'm a dinner jacket to speak then he's not allowed his own opinion? Why aren't you mad at Ahmadinejad for expressing anti-american, anti-gay, and anti-israel comments after being booked to speak in one of our universities? Do you see the parallel? If the guy who asks him to speak can't voice an opposing opinion about the speaker then why should you be okay with the speaker voicing an opinion against the common compass of the people he's speaking to? A bit restrictive no? Hypocritical?

I agree with Drno. I'm pretty sure Mahmoud has sinister ideas (umm..homosexuals "don't exist" in his country because he executes them all; and so on...), but at least he is trying to face the people.
At the same time, his session made him look like an idiot with weird beliefs, and everyone's laughing. Maybe that was the plan all along...and then...
FATALITY.

lol @ people defending Ahmadinejad in this thread. or it definitely seems like it. He's no better than Bush, imo.

What I really hate is that since 9/11 I find myself agreeing with Pat Buchanan more and more, when in the 90's I basically threw my coffee mug at him when he was on TV:
"That the Iranian president has PR in mind is undoubtedly true. Much of what national leaders do is symbolic. But that wreath-laying would have said something else, as well.
It would have said that, to Iran, these Americans were victims who deserve to be honored and mourned and, by extension, the men who killed them were murderers. Bin Laden celebrates 9/11. So do all America-haters. By laying a wreath at Ground Zero, the president of Iran would be saying that in the war between al-Qaeda and the United States, he and his country side with the United States. "

His faith will prevent him from having a drink with you.
Saying you're anti-zionist or anti-israeli is exactly the same as saying your anti-british or anti-french. And, by the way, he is.
Whether the holocaust happened or not, if you know the reasons for Zionism and the homeland for the Jews history – the holocaust did not spark it. neither does it change the fact that Jews lived in Israel (and for that matter, Iraq as well, until they where driven away and massacred in 1941) for thousands of years. Not that it matters. You have to solve this issue with the people that live there now, not the ones that lived in the past.
Denying the holocaust is a tool. Just think what would happen if someone would have suggested Mohamed didn't rise to heaven from Jerusalem (there's less evidence and documentation or that than for the holocaust). 41 people died because of a caricature of Mohamed.
And he uses the Palestinian issue as a political tool. Just as Bush does. Don't get me wrong, I think Palestinians should have a state, alongside Israel. But when it comes to violating human rights, his regime cannot lecture anybody. At least in Israel Christians, Muslims and Jews (even gay Jews) can cast a real free vote, and protest against the government – that's much more than anyone can do in Iran.
