we'll see. I think he is trying it on.

I got a new macbook with a dead pixel, but apparently that's my price for getting it much cheaper from the US.
I would be just as pissed off if I got one from you, but I guess you would be right. One pixel isn't a reason for return.
Especially that initially the guy said he was ok with it.
He's chancing it now.
In fairness, you should prolly accept the return (as fuckers from Apple should accept mine). But you already decided what to do and just want us make you feel ok :)
This should help you:

When I was considering buying a 30" Cinema Display, I asked Apple Sales what their dead-pixel policy was... The guy just said "If you arent happy with it, return it"... (not sure if thats what they always say, but once he's said that I'd hold them to it).
I got the 30", and it was perfect, but actually a bit TOO BIG. So I told them I'fd like to return it, and they came and picked it up. money back. nice service.
I got a couple of 23"ers instead.

sure, I think ebay is ok, paypal is the one I have a problem with

(May 12 07, 12:00)Paypal has been perfect for me. I haven't used eBay, but I suspect if you carefully buy things you should be okay. Like people who have good feedback or whatever. Anyway, I wouldn't buy anything on eBay unless I researched many things about the company or their products first. That's besides the point though...so whatever.

if you said no returns, then no returns.
he's just trying it on.
and anyway ... like ebay or paypal are ever gonna chase you up on it.

(May 12 07, 14:55)Yes, but don't you have to be honest with the customer(s) first before this policy about "no returns" applies?
I agree with jox on this one.

The exact same shit happened to me but with a guitar. A Les Paul worth about 1700 and I sold for 1200 to cover a new one I bought.
It was in excellent condition and this jackass filed a claim after he got it saying it needed neck adjustments and that finish was "tacky".
It almost went ot blows over the internetz, but finally the tool dropped the case.

As long as you clearly stated in you're eBay listing that it has a defect in it. For one pixel to be dead anything could had happened. I'm sure you'll beat his claim.
Once someone had a claim against me, but I justified that I stated it to be used and explained it. It ended like 2-3 months later in my favor.
For the future you should always state, "all sales final."

Where was the dead pixel? (sorry if it was mentioned above, I skipped a few posts)
I think the guy is being slightly petty, but if it's a dead pixel in the middle of the monitor, it could be annoying.
I tend to agree that you should have said it had a dead pixel. It's hard to really agree or disagree without knowing the guys attitude and exchange.

(May 12 07, 19:02)Yup.
Be honest too. Like fletcher said, where was the dead pixel?Part of it is his fault, since he's OCD and should have checked all aspects of the monitor (by emailing you or whatever).
Now that I think about it, if this happened to me I wouldn't take it as far as complaining through Paypal or eBay. Instead, I would definitely watch out for the next purchase I make though, and wouldn't purchase another item from the person who wasn't completely honest about the state of their product (nothing personal against you, just stating the truth of what I would do).
Anyway, I'll stop talking now. I think you should be fine in this ordeal.
