morilla - j lindberg make really cool stuff but it is so f'ing expensive. They sell them at a store down the street from me in Chicago called Untitled, I love their stuff but it's just ridiculiously priced.

mg33, you might laugh at me for this but I went to the Mens Warehouse and picked up two super nice CK suits and they did a super job tailoring them to fit. (broad shoulders slim waist)
I know their commercials are cheesy and all, but they have some really nice suits there.
(I'm probably going to get shelled for this)

Not sure if you've ever been out to Aurora, but there is a newer outlet mall out there that is unreal.

Kona - I've thought of the same thing, going to Men's Wearhouse, becuase it's cheap and I could get more than one.
My girlfriend is buying me a suit as a gift (we do our birthdays in June on our half birthdays - real b-days are right before and after Christmas) so I'm busy looking around.

mg33 I was really surprised when I walked into the store, I thought it was going to be like a JcPenny suit sale or something. They have some really nice designs.
Picked up a black pinstripe and gray with light blue pinstripe suits. Real sharp. Doesn't hurt to look ya know.
I might be going in there this weekend for a new sportcoat.

APC make some nice suits. Well made, might be tailored more toward men with slimmer builds.

i was in the same predicament 2 summers ago and went with a charcoal 3 button from brooks brothers and took it to a great tailor's. as long as its good cloth, you could buy most any suit and get it tailor fitted and it will last you.

(May 8 07, 12:54)You're a bit taller than me (if i remember) but shorter (under 5 10 s omething maybe?!?) thin guys shouldn't have pleated pants or cuffs. pleated pants on short guys makes their waistline look wide in comparisson with their shoulders, and cuffs make a short guys legs look shorter than they are.
i got neither of those options with the suits i got from the mens warehouse. and, as i was telling the guy 'no cuffs and no pleats' he was like 'of course not, no offense but you're too short for cuffs and to thin for pleats' so they know their shit.

haha. nah he was some old italian guy. he did a super good job measuring me up too... did the whole cupping of the ol coin purse and everything to get a good fit.
