Men's Suits?

Curious if any of you fellas have bought a suit recently or wear suits (there's got to be one of you at least) and if you have any tips for finding one that is modern, more British in style and slim, than the typical "walk into a department store, get a suit that looks like you work in a corporation."
Trying to find something light grey to charcoal grey for the summer and some weddings and events I have.
Think Ben Sherman, Paul Smith, Penguin, those types that are a bit more stylish and vintage looking.
And no wisecracks mrbdolina, I'm not looking for this:
It's just a real pain searching the web for anything to do with suits. GQ just had a good article on the top 10 suits under $500 and you can't find hardly any of them anywhere.

Gucci suits are wonderfully cut right out of the box. minimal tailoring needed, IMO.
Benetton does as well.

find a pic of one you like, bring it to a tailor, and have them make you one.

I'm a suit all day long. Order online at Bluefly or similar and take them to a tailor - check out Zegna for decent prices and awesome quality.

Go down to Syms. You can get a good suit for around 500 there. (Not a Ermenegildo Zegna but probably a Calvin Klein or an Austin Reid.)

i hate buying clothes i only wear once in a year - or less. should i go naked to the next wedding?

Your best bet is to try and find a small independent Tailors. I found one in London about 2 years ago, I got some tailored trousers for £175. The best part is you now that the suit is going to fit you perfectly, and you get to spec the materiel you would like. I could of had a hole suit made for me for about £550. You really cannot beat it. The only down side about getting a tailored suit is the delivery time which was about 2-3 weeks.

boss for me. They are exactly tailored for my euro body. I bought the " Scorsese Movie " suit. I love it. Way worth the money.
