How do I add a 0.25pt black page frame to a design in Photoshop? My printer has asked me to do this.

-Set background colour to Black.
-Ctrl+R to show Rulers.
-Right click Ruler, Select 'Points'.
-Alt+I, then S to amend Canvas Size
-Add 0.5 points to both width and Height sizes.

wow, thanks. but do you know how I can make this amended canvas size - black border - show in front of my other layers?
thnx Nairn!

aha, so you have assets in your workspace which run outside your document size? d'oh, i forgot about that.
in that case...
- Create new layer at very top of document.
- Fill with foreground colour (white).
- *follow steps mentioned previously*
- Create new layer at very top of document.
- Fill with black
- Ctrl-click first, white, layer to select contents.
- Click on black-filled layer in Layers menu.
- Press Delete.
- Delete white layerThat make sense?

Actually, (..and, dependent on what kind of file you're using - this doesn't really apply to vector data documents) I'd probably create a Merged-Copy of the original document, then follow the first series of steps - you shouldn't (well, I wouldn't) really have asset-data outside the workspace for a file going to print (imo).

Nairn, do you have a job? Or do you just piss about in PS and Illy all day?

All day? All my life, skt.

I have a question: I have a drawing (pen) that I've scanned and now want to paint in photoshop, leaving the qualities (little imperfections and sketchy bits) of the lines intact and untouched - adding colour underneath - to layers below. What's the best way to do this? I know I can select and delete the white space but this doesn't always work, and if there are lots of fine spaces and details then it's a nightmare. Is there a specific method for this? Mostly - I'm thinking of a good watercolour type look. Any thoughts?

could you not just set the pen layer to multiply? then u wouldn't see the white...

I usually convert the drawing to greyscale, go to the grey channel, ctrl+alt click. That selects your artwork and gets pretty much all the fine detail. Then create a layer underneath and cut from your artwork layer.

use the pen tool to draw shapes that correspond to the areas you want coloured in and then make a selection from path and fill (hit multiply as well)
or just use the pen tool in colour shape mode (and hit multiply)

Not sure about the other methods mentioned, but I'll test it out.
thanks!
