NO PAIN NO GAIN!

Count me in too. Trying to drop 75 pounds.
5 years ago I weighed about 75-85 pounds less than I do now. Use to run 4-6 miles a day. Got injured and then got laid off from work soon after so I got depressed and started eating all the time and with the injury could not run or workout.
Injury is finally fully healed and I bought a treadmill 3 months ago and have been running 5-6 days a week and trying to build back up to my 4-6 miles a day. It's a hard friggin journey but I am determined.
I will post status reports every once in a while.

Wow. That's a great goal design_naked.
My wife trains at a gym and has one client who lost 138lbs in 14 months with my wife.
She's made an amazing transformation. 75lbs is completely possible. You guys have already done one of the hardest parts... take the first step towards a healthier future.

posting on a message board is not technically 'a step' altough does require movement of the digits. The real first step is actually doing the excercise for the first time, you'll feel really good about yourself and want to go back again the next day, as long as you don't get out of routine it should continue... in theory

this is fuckin kick-ass awesome!
so glad to see a strong response to this. My major goal is basically just to burn this fat off and get my cardio strong as hell. I'm dead set on some type of outdoor challenge this spring/summer, so the training started yesterday.
I was thinking about posting a pic of my fat ass up here, but I don't want to ruin my image here on NT just yet. I think I'll just post an "after" shot...
and yes, GNC is shee-yite. Make sure you guys check out http://www.vitacost.com/ as well. Great prices in there on the average supplements such as vitamins, oils, etc.
- Point50
and when you do get to http://www.vitacost.com/ make sure you search by brand if you do have a brand preference. I haven't been there in about 2 months and it looks like they're trying to pushl their own brand now.

point5, a guy at my work did this last year, it's supposed to be the toughest endurance course out there (along with the us navy seals course), sounds horrible, but a good challenge to work towards in a year or so!

look at the 'the course' section with all the different elements!

(Jan 2 07, 08:45)Actually the first step is coming to terms with yourself that you have to make a change. That's the biggest step. Most people never even come to that decision and make it to the gym.
Making the decision to change is the first and most important step. Training is hard, I'll admit, but after a while it gets easier. Especially after the first compliment you get, something like 'man, are you losing wieght? you look great' or the fiirst time you realize your pants are too big. That's huge motivation.
Trust me.

Point5... a very gracious and kind NTer has emailed me about setting up a blog so my wife can post stuff to help you all out (and, her clients she's currently training).
I talk to my wife and she's all for it. I think it's good to post before and after pictures.
With the last show I did I took a before pic and it was very humbling. Made me want the end result that much more.
Hopefully she'll have a training blog with tips, workouts, cardio routines and such up sometime soon. I'll keep you guys posted.

Point5... a very gracious and kind NTer has emailed me pictures of him with my wife.
I talk to my wife and she didn't deny it. I think it's bad taste to post infidelity pictures.

Awesome! Perfect!
I'm with you guys on this. I just turned 29, and my girlfriend reminded me that I said I was going to start eating better when I was 25...
I weighed myself over the weekend and was 188. I'm 6'0" and want to be around 175, and get rid of this beer gut. My legs are not big because of all the city walking I do.
I started running here and there but realize now that I need to keep a schedule. Need to listen to music while running so I enjoy it. I have some small hand weights at home and need to make a plan for doing crunches and other ab related excercises.
I'm also starting the new year with a big focus on eating better. No more crap. Healthy stuff, smaller portions.
I notice these days that I have a bit of a loose neck and want that a lot tighter too.
Anyhow, this is a great thread, and I'm wondering if anyone with a domain and their own site had the time to set up a small message board we could use just for this topic? Just include tips, results, other discussion, food related things, etc. I think that would help over just going through this thread.
Would anyone be up for setting that up?
- k0na_an0k0
haha. You bastard OSFA!
- Point50
Baskerville, HAHA, I will definitely have to work a year toward this! However, that looks like my type of race! Big ups on the link!
k0na, if I post a pic, it's going to make me look ridiculous. I'm afraid I'm beginning to grow man-boobs! dear god /cry. I'm still strong, but my metabolism has tanked in the last year so I'm on a major mission. If I can keep myself from puking, I'll take a pic and post tonight...
- OSFA0
Once ya'll post your before pics, we'll proceed to post thme here...
We'll determine the program that's best for you based on ratings.
Sincerely
Management.
- k0na_an0k0
hahaha Point5!
I know what you mean man. I was going to take a before pic 2 months ago to track my progress and was like 'yeah, uh... how about I just take an after pic'
haha.
