have you tried taking magnesium, pb? http://health-supplements-adviso…
It's what is prescribed in the first tier of treatment for anxiety 'disorders' here in Europe.
Obviously, I know nothing about your case and hence my opinion is utterly worthless, but have you tried to find other, non-pharmaceutical, means of treating your anxiety? 2 years is a long time to be on psychoactive meds of ANY kind and unless you have a distincly physiological root to your condition (see magnesium), there ARE better, healthier and more effective treatments out there. Maybe get a second opinion?

from one heavy weed smoker to another - maybe take a wee break?
i'd be pretty dubious about mixing pharmaceuticals with weed too - something's gotta give. make sure it's the pharmaceuticals ;)

(Dec 18 06, 12:42)nic, it's unpredictable. everyone reacts to the meds differently. thats why you need a trusted psychologist to constantly monitor you. for some, paxil may work 1st try. for others, it may make them feel worse and you have to keep switchin until you find one that works.
as a general rule, i know that these drugs can help some people. I would hesitate to use them before trying to change my diet and exercise routine, as food and exercise create dopamine in the body which is what these drugs mimic.

Really...well maybe that's what my shrink will say tomorrow. I could definately start excercising again, but as far as food goes I haven't had a proper meal since last week - lost my appetite

yeah man, I bet you'd feel a lot better if you hit the gym a few times a week, or started yoga, or martial arts- just something to start getting those chemicals out of the brain and into your bloodstream.. (just takes a couple weeks to get back in the routine) Best of luck, bro.

sorry, nic. :(
I hate being sad... even when it's chemically induced.
From one fella to another - it's been hell... I feel like I have the flu... everything aches... everything...

you've gots to eat guys and dolls I believe firmly that diet is linked to happiness. Sometimes it's harder than a mofo to eat something good if you are having an episode which I like to call it, but seriously choke something good down you and at least the act of cooking will help rock your mind away from what your malaise might be. I often find going for a cycle and a shout helps loads, when I am up in the hills and I can just let lose a mad scream it is quite liberating, then I look around to make sure nobody is watching and if they are watching then I kill them and cover them up in stones and sticks I've said too much.

quick note on the weed thing:
contrary to popular opinion, weed can be an addiction. it's classified under "chemical dependence". the difference from being a casual smoker and an everyday smoker. and chemical dependence is a sign of deeper issues. so it is by no way a "fix" to anything. a joint here and there to ease the pressure.. thats another story

I went through a tough break about 4 years ago, couldn't eat anything. But I knew i needed to, just couldn't. I would drink slimfast shakes just to keep getting something into my body. Because food just wasn't going down. seemed to work for me

i highly suggest you cleanse yourself of that garbage the hard way. cold turkey. before you start seeing dead babies on the ceiling and such

I went through some pretty bad stress/anxiety stretches some years ago, but never went on the meds because I was afraid I'd become reliant on them and then they'd stop working and I'd really be fucked. I gradually learned to just accept my mental state without trying to escape it and it gradually got better. Attempting to escape your own mind just sets up an endless negative feedback loop of fear and avoidance.

ps - sorry ponyboy to interject myself into your thread.
I hope you get off the stuff soon and start to get better
- PonyBoy0
hehe... this is your thread too, Nic...
... I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts. :)
- material-10
good luck to you both.
- Nairn0
not to derail the thread, but -
soler - from the few posts i've seen of yours pertaining to drugs and drug culture, i get the impression you know jack.
regular cannabis users don't develop chemical (or, more correctly, physiological) dependence, but can be easily develop psychological dependence.
there's a gulf of a difference.
fo sho, it is more than likely indicative of an underlying psychological issue, but cannabis users never go cold turkey if they can't get their high. it just doesn't happen.
irritable and moody, probably - suffering cramps, cold shakes and wanting to die - not quite.
Sorry for the intrusion, PnyBy
- PonyBoy0
no intrusion, nairn...
... i'd have to agree too...
... weed is something I miss when i'm bored... or when i want to just kick back and forget...
... but this medication I'm on is a WORLD of difference...
... my body is demanding it...
