useful.. or useless?
over prescribed or not prescribed enough?
I ask... cuz about two years ago I went to my doctor to see about getting a referral to psychologist etc to deal w/a bit of anxiety...
... and being the trusting fool that I am... they put me on the garbage... THAT YOU BECOME ADDICTED TO.
Mind you... it was my doctor who put me on this... not a referred phychologist...
... anyway... this same doctor who GOT ME HOOKED...
... I call in to refill my prescription... OVER A WEEK AGO...
... and still... no refill. So I call the doctor and press '5' as i Have an emergecny... I SWEAR I'm starting to see stuff... I'm angry, pissy... I'VE THROWN UP TWICE TODAY... and I have a permanent back spasm that just won't go away... cold and hot sweats... and nasty migraine that turns 'tints' everything I see w/a 'glare'... but there's no glare...
... and after reading up on the meds that I've been stuck on (cuz i'm addicted and my doctor pushed a months worth of samples on me...), I hearing that people have committed suicide etc...
... and the thing is... I KNOW it's all chemical and withdrawal... and IT'S THE WORST because you catch yourself feeling depressed... but then REALIZE it's chemical and do what you can to convince yourself that you just 'have to put up with it'.
Anyone else have this shit go down with their doctor? I realize this isn't a design thread... but damnit... it's WRECKING my life...

stay strong ponyboy, get some support from a friend. read up on the stuff, most all meds do something harmful to kidneys as well as your mental state.
as far as i know psyciatrist can give perscriptions but psychologists can only give advice so I'm not sure who gave you what...

I'm on (or was on and need my fix) paxil...
take a look at the symptoms I'm dealing with (just found this site... lots of great ideas for weening ones self off this crap)...

... you know when you go over a hill in a car but you weren't prepared for it... and it's like you left your stomach back up on that hill (like nervous butterflies in your stomach)...

Beware the 'family doctor' and the fucking 'freebie testers' that they hand out... they fill you with that shit like some old lady at a cosmetics counter waiting to hose you with some shitty tester perfume...

uhhh... all the symptoms you just listed aren't enough to make you want to quit taking them?
just make sure you gradually quit, this isn't the type of shit to go cold turkey on...

This thread is out pure 'need'... I didn't slip at all last night... as a matter of fact - the only comfort I felt was when I got in the shower at 3am and soaked in the dark until the sun came up...
... and to make it worse.. I'm in Dallas right now helping out a friend...
... how the hell am I supposed to 'help' when I can cry on cue?

PB: anxiety can be treated without taking meds... email me if you want more info. I went through the same thing 6-7 yrs ago and wouldn't wish it on anyone, been doing great for the past 5-6 yrs MED FREE :)

sucks man! I'm sure you'll get the situation handled for the best.
be careful with that stuff. my ex would use it as a crutch anytime anything bothered her. when we first met, she was great, she comes to me one day and says. i've got some great news. I've stopped taking my meds. Me: "huh? what meds? oh and that's great!"
Was good for a while, then she started a new job, started to get stressed, like life always does to you in that situation. And was freakin out, wheres my pills, I need my pills. I can't handle this. Was on them everyday from then on out. Says it' just numbs everything, allowed her to just keep going, not caring good or bad.
Just be careful, life is stressful sometimes. If it helps you out for the moments great, but to be on them for the rest of your life, that scares me a bit.

... I requested a refill of my script w/about 3 days left of my existing...
that was over 10 days ago now... I went NUTZ at the nurse who answered just a moment ago.

joyride, sounds like she was taking valium or xanax, something can be taken "as needed"... still pretty bad for you and even more addicting that what PB seems to be taking: stuff you have to take every 24 hours for it to work.

can't you just go into the office and demand some samples to hold you over?
why didn't this fool schedule a follow-up visit with you at the end of your 1st month?
at his point, if you've been off them a week, it may be the same as going cold turkey... stop taking them ASAP!!

Hate to sound like a typical American, but can you sue? This is obviously having an adverse effect on your life and the way you describe the situation, your doctor is to blame.
