I saw a show once about cats and the mother has to teach the little hunters to kill what they catch. If they don't get taught, they just play around with the little vermin toys.
What you need is a ratter, like a Manchester Terrier. My neighbor had a chipmunk in his house and we let Bitsy (my perky Manchester) take car of it. I put her in the last place the rat was sighted (the office), closed the door, there was a quick scurry, and Bitsy shook it once and plopped it down on the ground. Instinct. They dubbed her the Chimpmunkinator.

Here's what you do.
Get you and a couple buddies together and put on some black hoods and masks. Then get one of them to video tape you cutting off the rats' heads.
Then, play that videotape on the local anti-rat tv station to scare rats around the world not to come into your house and shit in your shoes.
