andy-
i haven't read any of the posts in this thread other than the final 5 or so...
with that said (and keep an open mind, i'm not trying to be an asshole but this might come across as being one),
1) you really need to lose the music.
2) you really need to enlarge your screenshots.
3) you should really get rid of that crosshairs mouse follow with the coordinates in the bottom right corner.
4) the font definately needs to be reconsidered.
5) the logo in the top right doesn't fit the site at all. i mean the colors are the same, but it is the only filled in space on the entire thing. it just looks as if it floats there...very disconnected.
6) if you are going to center the site, give it a reason to be centered. otherwise just put it up in the top left corner. it just floats aimless like the logo.
7) the scroll arrows should act as a scroll, not as a jump point. no one is going to read that much copy anyway, so you may want to minimize it.
8) definately get rid of the moto! i'm not sure why you would even have it there...i'm still trying to understand what the hell it means! it sounds like you are calling yourself a cheap designer that is better than the cheapest designer?? what?!
9) whitespace is nice. consider it.
sorry if any or all of these comments have been made in the above posts already.
good luck, and look forward to seeing some stuff in the future.

it's just really 'dated', andy... the colors, typestyle (pixel is still okay... just not that font)...
... and CONCEPT = dated.
going 'minimal' as it were is lovely...
...just, if you want to 'fit in' w/your peers - then lose the 'tech' feel (the coordinates and crosshairs are SILLY, duder... get rid of them... that was 'cool to look at' in 1998/99... for a few months)...
... Now... your logo..
... that's even MORE DATED than everything else. It's 'pre-web' even... very circa microsoft 1991/92 maybe? Either way - the lines (almost cubist) are dreadful w/that avante garde font etc... it's just very early 90's corporate at best.
The key here is that your 'style' is dated.
The music, the logo, the lines and crosshairs/coordinates are all 'tricks' that early 'flash designers' put to good use back in the late 90's and got us all hooked (Flash people at least)... but it's been about 8 years since that 'style' had andy'wow' effect on your Peers...
...it may wow the hell out of your mailman, your mom, brother or even some silly real estate agent who's more interested in seeing their picture on their website than they are 'communicating' w/a level of objectivity other than self promotion through 'eye candy'...
alas... I digress.
You've gotten your feedback! Your site is 'old' in terms of what is current w/your peers... and 'old' can be equated with 'ugly'. :(

I agree, the site is design is dated. You have a good sense of how to use the tools to create a good site. I suggest you go through the links in the newstoday broadcast and research the sites of proven designers.

i've just taken the time to read most of the comments made on this thread. I know some people are coming across as joky, but seriously the site is just bad.
You really need to look into scrapping the whole thing. Just have a look at whats out there at the moment and get a sense of the visual styles. The design you have is seriously dated. Just out of curisoity when did you finish your training? i've just finished a degree and never in a million years would i think of coming up with that type of interface design.
I know it sounds harsh but you should really take into account what everyone is saying.

Also if you miss the 'intro' then your left thinking 'why is this site in flash at all? I was.
Wasn't untill I refeshed the page that I saw the intro. But then the 'music' noise kicked in again, over the music I allready have playing so I closed the window.
Personally I definately change the main text font/colour as it is near unreadable, loose the sound and, if your going with flash, try to invove its functions in the site more rather than just having a pointless intro.

Good luck. And from personal experience, critiques that disagree with me, rather than confirm what I believe, have made me a much better designer. Thanks NT!
