(Oct 30 06, 09:21)hahah, I'm the exact opposite. Everyone is better than me, and I just act like I deserve to get paid as much as I ask.

The work samples look pretty weak, some are just 1-page html sites that could be put together in less than an hour.
I'd suggest picking up some books on design fundamentals like grid systems, typography, color theory... Learning CSS layouts would help too, as HTML able layouts are outdated...

Man I don't want to offend but it looks a little bit old fashioned.
Wether you think this is insulting is up to you. You asked for a critique not for us to blow smoke up your arse!
Seriously mate don't take it hard. Keep it simple like next man said. Three sections - Big samples splashed across the page. People don't hire designers for their process but their results.
Keep smiling!

I mean, the site features work, everything is nice and neat, and the layout makes some sense.
--------------------------------...Hey man, I think that's the problem here- the site is not clean or neat, and the layout does *not* make any sense. I don't think that "sparse" is equal to "clean and neat."
I think what's lacking is a focal point on the home page, a sense of balance, and typographical contrast (ie, headings, text-alignment, etc).
Also, I think when people say the site is "old," they are referring to the following:
1) the intro- no point to it, poorly compressed music and no "skip intro" btn. Intros in general are considered dated.
2) The music loop on the homepage, the loop is either too old, too short, or too compressed or all three. It also cuts out after a while and the animation bars keep going...
3) The mouse-toy text (crosshairs and floaty-text) - is it serving any purpose? Many old flash sites used these types of things because they could, not because they *should*.
4) The tiny buttons and screenshots- why hide your work and make it hard to click on buttons?
5) The whole "site stuck in a box thing" is also kinda old. Why not use more of the page?
On a general note, I don't know if it's a great idea to call yourself "cheap" in any way if you want to be successful in this industry. While clients want to save money, they certainly don't want to hire "cheap" people- it implies poor quality.
Take a better look at sites like www.thefwa.com, www.cssmania.com, etc, to get a better sense of what works well and what clients will want from you.
Good luck, and don't give up!

"I'm cheaper than everyone better than me, and I'm better than everyone cheaper than me."

"I'm the best person for you to hire.
I'm cheaper than everyone better than me, and I'm better than everyone cheaper than me."
Wow, leave the personal BS and mottos and all that garbash out of the site...You might want to add some work too...
PS - Ive seen better designed powerpoint presentations

--------------------------------...Andy, don't take too much of these comments to heart - you put yourself out there and that takes guts.
I hope you take the time, though, to read some of the comments from people who are at least trying to be constructive.

I was kidding about the powerpoint, although in my opinon, the site is pretty dry, and I know that it can be pushed farther...Some "constructive criticism" includes:
a. remove intro (or shorten dramatically), increases load time, doesnt support any concept really, and gets cut off at the bottom
b. in Samples, increase size of thumbnails...work should be more prominent if this is a portfolio site...
c. body copy seems a couple pt sizes too large, maybe try the size of the nav?
d. remove motto section, just feels pointless to meFeel free to contact me for any further feedback, and honestly, I think u are off to an ok start... u just need to trim the "extras" of your site and focus more on the actual work.
