Are your websites accessible? Here's another reason to jump on the CSS bandwagon.

why am I an idiot? Shouldn't it be up to a business whether they make their site accessible or not? If not, they lose business.
I don't see the reason to sue...

(Sep 8 06, 15:57)"should a business be given the choice whether or not to provide wheelchair access?

anyone know if Ebay or Amazon stores are accessible? Man, now that would be a lot of lawsuits!

The reason people target the large companies like Target first to get them to make their site accessible is to frighten everyone else to follow suit.
With such an emphasis being put on accessibility at the moment, why arent the big newspapers being hassled for this too.
Do they print Braille versions?
nopDo they sell audio versions of each days publication?
nopWhen will Art Galleries be forced to have audio descriptions of every single painting?
You see, there is a point where all this "Politically Correctness" and "Accessibility" stuff becomes rediculous.

Just reading about general laws regarding disability, found the 'Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)'...
an example of a badly titled law? (It doesnt just apply to Americans obviously)

Vegetarians taking Macdonalds to court because they cannot eat their burgers because they contani meat?

my main concern on this stuff is figuring out at what point a small website/small business has to comply with these laws (and figuring out which ones apply when you have a global audience)... I see a lot of people talking about they are going to comply with various laws when they haven't completed the first step.. finding out which laws are actually applicable, and getting the correct interpretation as it applies to their situation..

(Sep 8 06, 15:57)dude, this is such an "american-centric" response it is crazy. why should accessablity be an issue?? because we do not live in a world of physical equality or standards, for one. by that logic, you would request that all right-to-left reading Asia change to meet a 'western' preference as well?
if there are not standards presented and critiqued by a social collective, then the corp. w/ the biggest pockets to say what they want dictates how information is translated and communicated.
this also falls into a bit of 'violation' of equal opportunity employment and retail establishment requirements w/o much thought...
