nice logic there gramme.
I can't see it therefore it doesn't exist anymore, hmmm.

Good point, gramme. Don't you love how those who yell "tolerance" the loudest are quite selective about what should be tolerated and not tolerated.
No censorship!
...unless I don't like the way it sounds.

The mission statement from that new directions site, flagellum:
The Mission of New Direction for Life Ministries
"Creating a safe place for same-gender attracted people to journey towards wholeness in Christ."
Unbiased sources, please.

I agree that flagellum is intelligent, but he's more of a historian than anything else. Doesn't seem to get other sides of things.

i guess so he is, didn't realise he was a religion only entity.
i still think there's something cruel about continously baiting someone just so all your friends can gang up on him.

(Jun 28 06, 07:06)You're putting words into my mouth and misunderstanding my point. My point was that if you find the thread so offensive, nobody is forcing you to keep reading.
You must be interested on some level, otherwise you wouldn't even stick your nose in.
Of course it still exists. But I think we can agree that if something bothers you, it's often best to leave it alone, especially when it isn't doing you any harm per se.

Flag, why do you have these gay therapy sites bookmarked anyhow?

democracy works (or should work) like this:
Everyone is free to do as they please, until what they do affects the lives of other people negatively. Then they may not do entirely as they please.
I am tolerant of anyone to say and do as they please until it affects or impinges on someone else negatively.
I support anyone's right to believe what they want, just don't go trying to make other people agree with you. I class preaching in this category

This thread started with an article which cites support that homosexuality is a predisposed behavior. To a small degree, I agree with this. As i stated, we all have predispositions. But there is a difference between predispositions, which we all have, and fatalistic determinism. Life experience shapes our predispositions and we choose to act on them or to pursue a different course.

gramme, flagellum could also stand up for himself.
He damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't. Either way, these threads will continue forever.

(Jun 28 06, 07:11)I say keep debating, regardless of viewpoint, as long as it's civil. Let's not give in to the trend of free-speech erosion. We already have too many categories in this country for what can or can't be said...

flagellum read some Stephen Pinker
- flagellum0
I believe in the free exchange of ideas and lively discussion about different viewpoints. When a person holds a different view on an issue than I do, I do not believe they are being intolerant nor are they cramming something down my throat.
Saying:
I do not agree that homosexuality is genetically predetermined = tolerant viewpoint.
Saying:
I hate homosexuals = intolerance & hate & wrong.
- flagellum0
Baskerville, Stephen Pinker is a loony Darwinist Philosopher who won't pay attention the evidence which challenges his core tenets.
He's been refuted more times than I can count.
- mrdobolina0
If you say being gay is a choice you can then, in good faith, discriminate against them while still feeling all righteous. That is what is going on here.
How about leaving people the fuck alone?
I am not trying to end your religion, but you are trying to end homosexuality. If you can't see the difference in these two stances, then you're fucked.
- Jaline0
I just can't believe that that many people would 'choose' to be gay and impose that much hatred, violence, and discrimination upon themselves (usually put on them by their families and friends).
- flagellum0
and Baskerville...
Read some J.P. Moreland & William Dembski

most academics are loony, that's why they don't get real jobs.
Most research scientists are a bit weird and generally don't function well in general society. Universities are their shelter :o)
- flagellum0
i would agree with that.
- flagellum0
I shouldn't have committed an ad hominem on Pinker. He may be loony, but that's beside the point. The data doesn't support his views.
