    It might be your other wireless gadgets that fucks it upp e.g. wireless phone? My airport also jumps up n' down all the time... (for both PC & Mac laptops) going around in the house with a magnifying glass like Grissom.

    i've never had a problem with macs but always had problems with a pc.

    some of my friends always have trouble with macs and none with PCs.

    just use what works for you

    btw. for wireless routers to just lose connection suddenly for a few seconds. isn't normal? aren't they supposed to recycle every 24hour or so?

    okay. let me explain a bit more this recycle thing. the internal clock of a router needs to reset every day. typically around midnight. normally its done in a millisecond. but since its wireless is distrups the coverage because it needs to regain the proper connection. on wired network, its done a lot faster.

    some routers reset every day, some reset every certain ammount of bandwidth, and some use other methods i ignore.

    Glad I caugh this thread...the technical support is the one area that is keeping me from a PowerBook. This about settles it.

    While my Dell's ain't too pretty, the tech support is impeccable, any replacements show up with a tech guy to install in 24 hours, and I save a bundle.

    Too bad, though. I'd love a good reason to buy a mac, even at more $$ I would pay for the looks/quality, but poor tech support is just not worth the risk.

    sorry to hear it dinky, but why anyone would pay double to triple for a wireless router is beyond my comprehension.

    this is a common problem with express. the guys at apple reseller told me.

    also, internet resetting is different from hard stop and degradation.

    what happens to mine is this.

    the internet speed slowly dies down, while the signal is 100%. after unplugging and replugging makes it work

    i have done deductive reasoning on this issue. i checked the modem. i check the cable / replaced them. i checked the computer.

    can't you buy applecare _after_ your unit breaks?

    btw, I will be buying in the US and I don't think 'world class support' means 'worldwide support', so I probably should just forget about applecare..

    apple: i think firm ware installation was done wrong.

    trust me, if you gonna go apple, BUY THE DAMN APPLE CARE

    your HD will die after one year.
    your CD rom will die after 3 months

    rest of the shit will fry after warranty runs out

    Dinky, dealing with Irish broadband providers tech support I have learnt one thing:
    Always ask them their names. Have them repeat and spell. Telling them the conversation is being recorded won't hurt either. They must feel a personal threat in order to start to care.
