I find that If they want me to design beautiful work, I need to design on a beautiful machine.
macs make me want to work better.

PC here, but office is hybrid. Couldn't imagine the graphic designers would like to switch. I'm more of a web/interactive designer/programmer.
the cost of learning is the best argument. it takes half a year to get up to your mac-speed i suppose.

(Mar 15 06, 03:07)is that not a Tony Curtis quote?

Well, it seems me throwing the toys out of the pram has had some effect - I now have to do a presentation on why we need macs. Thanks for that quote Kezza_2, I'm gonna use that in my speech!
Wish me luck, for I fight for a higher cause. May the OSX be with me!

Tell them it is absolutely imperative that you can see, first hand, just how shite any flash sites you build will run on 3% of the worlds machines.

"may mate on the interweb read an article (on the interweb) that says its more expensive. (and that you suck)"
;)

(Mar 15 06, 02:20)You beat me to it. I've also seen an "article" in the sunday sport that said there was a london bus on the moon.

Creativity is not limited to operative systems

Won't they have to purchase a whole new bunch of software aswell? More costs.
- pyeaton0
Well, thats funny. PC's when filled with ram, and half od their internal fuicher price components such as vid cards, ram, monitors, and etc.... a re built to withstand graphics apps, then they cost the same as a mac. sounds like a lzy IT dept rahter than a cost issue.
- _salisae_0
get over it. start looking for a new job. sounds like they're going down.
- acescence0
... or learn to use both mac and pc, and increase your value as an employee!
- UndoUndo0
yeah they must be going down if they cant get the badge on the computer right.
pffft

If they think selling brand new Macs is going to save them money, they're irresponsible. I could see if it were time to buy a large amount of computers anyway.
Also, if your preference of platform is not an issue, you're probably working for the wrong people.
Are you working in print, web, other?

cant you convince the boss to purchase you a Powerbook??
keep it on your ddesk...for those just in case viruses!?!?
i dont see how that can be an issue...in every company i have seen that the pc is the dominant, i always see a powerbook being used and the pc is just for mp3, pr0n, and more pr0n.

How does this end up with comments like 'you're in the wrong job', and 'they're irresponsible'..?
And you're actually not kidding, which is fucked up.
It's mac snobbery gone mad.

Norton Antivirus costs about 100 bucks for 5 licenses. There are your expanded IT costs.
Mac types talk about PC's crashing all the time and the "blue screen of death". But really, they have no idea what they are talking about anymore. That was Windows 98, I have xp pro at work and it never ever crashes.
What does "flash the ram" mean anyway? "Rebuild your desktop". "Reset your preference file".
You guys talk like mac's never have ANY problems but you wouldn't know it by keeping an eye on the pvn, day in and day out.
Just say it is personal preference if that is what you mean. Making up problems is dishonest.

I'm not talking to you Moth cos you drive a BMW
