Los Angeles or San Francisco?
pros/cons of either,

I hate LA.

i always wonder about people who hate LA.

Either way WEST COAST!

If you like cold-ass weather, go with SF. Mark Twain said that the coldest winter he ever spent, was the summer he spent in SF.
One thing that i know is that they are very different places. People that like LA generally hate SF, and vice-versa.
I suppose that the climate is the feature that i like least.

They might as well be on different continents. They are that different.
SF is not that big of a city, pocket neighborhoods, great mass transist, small funky bars and restaurants, hippies, punks , business folks all seemingly getting through the daze together. It's also not warm and sunny by CA standards
LA is much more spread out and faster paced. Creatives tend to be in media rather than agency type jobs. Climate is much warmer but the air can get thick in the summer.
Neither are cheap to live in. Don't flip a coin on this one, they are far from interchangeble.

Wonder away...
LA is pretentious and everyone I ever met there was a wanna be something but usually nothing acting like they are everything.

there's more opportunities in LA right?

I thnk SF is a bit more expensive.
LA has smog.

I hear people in LA are backstabbers where as in NYC, they tell it to your face.
- jpolk0
i think these blanket statements about "people in XX" are pretty funny...
- KILLputer0
Got to love it when at parties in LA people introduce themselves by their profession.
"Hi There, Janet, marketing director... and this is my sister, she's a actress. Have you met Tom yet, he is a film editor for Disney."
- jpolk0
i know a ton of pretentious wannabe somethings in new york. i know some fucking rad people in LA...

people tend to be more similar than the same. you meet good people and shitty people everywhere. what city they live in has little to do with it.
get over your geography.

visit both and decide.

SF,
LA.....the nostalgia, traffic and fake people start to wear on you after a couple of years. Learn to swim.

I've lived in both. Each one has its own jewels and turds. I miss SF now that I am in LA, But I missed LA when in SF. Sf Is way colder and I just decided I had it with the weather. Plus I couldn't get a nice place to live without a lot of cash. Yes LA is now the same but I found more Oppurtunities in LA than SF.
Also as for rumors of how people act in either, how bout people are fucked up period. No matter wherre you are. But if you live your life right, other good people find their way into your life. And yes I have good people in both locals. As for the posers, well if you know too many posers, tyhen maybe you need to rethink your circle of friends.
my 2 cents. Holla back.

Grew up in SF and live in LA. Prefer to visit SF and live in LA now. Only prob is the amount of people here. 35 million peeps from San Diego to Santa Barbara vs 7 or so million in SF.
1 in 5 Americans live in California, one in 8 live in Southern California.
Killputer watches too much american idol and assumes everyone is a desparate and balding actor, with a vacant paris hilton clone for a girlfriend. I suppose those people do exist here, just as sr citizens and retarded people. but so what? are you looking to befriend 100% of any population?

my gf's getting into photography. would either city be particularly better for her career? so far, based on her research, there's more schools (art institutes in SF) so perhaps there more assistant positions there as well?
she likes SF more for the urban environment, i like la for surfing... hmmm...
thanks for the info btw.
- backwards0
there are equal opportunities in both cities right now, i'd say. maybe LA has a slight edge... but only if you're into entertainment work.
